GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Now this is a powerful interview. Reading this just makes me realize what Gaga had to go through. I am just so happy that she is in a much much better and happier place right now!

This. People try so hard to make her look like she's contradicting herself 24/7. FreePalestine

I honestly think she's not really serious when she says she want to end her music career or she would have left that industry long time ago especially after what happened on ARTPOP... Gaga loves doing music more than anything else (I wouldn't even be surprised if that involvement is one of the reasons of the breakup).
donutellha 13,819
damn. the industry is her crutch and the catalyst of her breakdown. Walk down the runway but don't puke, it's okay. You just had 10 donuts today. Without frosting.

This interview certainly explained a lot about why she is doing much less promotion this era, and why she withdrew slightly from her fans and the media. Idk, but that's just the impression I got, from this interview and from the whole Joanne era tbh. She just talks in a much more mature way, when she's performing you can see that she is truly enjoying it, and with her sharing all her problems that we had no idea about, I believe that she is currently in a good place. Because usually, when something is bothering you, you're not comfortable to talk about it, but when you actually get over it or learn how to cope with it, then you are much more free to express those issues imo.. I hope you're right. She definitely seems more comfortable in herself, but I feel like the admission that she is struggling with PTSD and its symptoms (and using the present tense to refer to it) shows she still has a long way to go. Also you have to remember she only broke up with Taylor 6 months ago. It can take much longer to get over someone or accept that they've gone. I find it interesting that during her other album cycles, she would always say she was depressed during the previous era, and then she would maintain that she's happy in the present era. Like, during ARTPOP she talked about how she was depressed during BTW, and then we find out that she was actually even worse during ARTPOP. However, with Joanne, I don't think she's mentioned once that she's happy. So maybe she's just being more honest with us about her depression. Or maybe she is in a genuinely good place and doesn't feel the need to broadcast how happy she is. I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!! Sister 9,907
Knowing how we all know Gaga's personality, it is not a stretch to think that she'd feel this way. I can really understand her feeling this way about not feeling like a pop star and I feel that this thought is what she feels separates her and makes things that people say about her, being like Madonna, get under her skin and makes her make certain comments, that a lot of people take the wrong way, concerning her and Madonna. This is a great interview and as always, Gaga is such a great girl. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

NickiMinajStan 6,732
I love how open she always is. I do, however, disagree with her creative approach. I think an artist should never think of their own work like "a mission" who serves a higher purpose. The creative process is always a selfish journey, it is always about yourself: about your struggles, your bonds, your story. When you start trying to channel others' struggles through your work, it usually results in disgenuine pieces. And that is my main issue with Joanne: I think she wrote many of the songs for other people, to tell their struggle, who isn't her own, which ultimately resulted in said tracks not feeling honest. I do believe her intentions are noble, so I respect her decision. But it is not an artist's job to "provide a voice" to tell others' stories. It should always be your story, because when is not, it feels dishonest, and the final piece is affected by it. Art is a construction but should be always rooted in truth. I do respect, and appreciate what she tried to do with Joanne anyways, and I know how important this project is for her, so I wish her nothing but success with this era. Hope she feels better now too HEART OF EVER-FROST

hELXIG 42,954
Everyone on this site needs to read this. All the 'fans' who allow themselves to forget about her humanity need to read this. Everyone who thinks she is obliged to keep creating for them needs to read this. We are lucky to still have her. I've been saying this for years. When she completely disappeared for 6 months after breaking her hip I thought she was gone forever. When she came back, she was a different girl, full of explosive pain. Then she settled down, worn out, and revived, but changed. Because of her story the past 4 years we will most likely never have the BTW creature back. But at least we have this wonderful, creative, caring woman by our sides. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Gaga is such a strong woman for being still a great artist in this world no doubt of it. My post wasn't a shade or anything. I was just implying that I can't take seriously her statement saying she'll leave the music industry because she actually said this many times before and she's still releasing music. Music is her life, I can't see her leaving this because it always help her to heal. That was my point. I'm sorry some of you take me as a bad fan or anything, it wasn't intended. MonsterMum 2,532
I just want to add a general note here. Not like Gaga and I are the same but we have the PTSD in common and well, I'm older so on a human, female level I can maybe understand it from another perspective. As a female when we hit 30 we have this existential crisis (not all and some get it a bit later). Once that big 3-0 is on record it's really weird but we start to question our lives. The 30 dip I always called it. You wonder, is this the guy I want to be with for the rest of my life? Is this the job I want to do for another 45 years? Am I happy with where my life is going? What about kids? I think Gaga is in that exact phase, which makes sense why she'd break up with Taylor and saying all these things. Seeing music is her passion for life I don't think we should be fearful that she's gonna quit the business but I wouldn't be surprised if she was one of those people to retreat for half a year and do something completely different like one of my friends that went to India to live in an ashram and learn yoga and became a yoga teacher instead. That 30 thing is just weird and shakes your life up man lemme tell you, my friend and I ourselves left our partners back then at 30 too and now are married to someone else. Yes it's anecdotal but I think many 30+ people here will be able to confirm that things just change.
