Dissociation

Is it just me who is literally watching interviews and seeing what might be dissociation? Like when Gaga begins dissociating? Anyone else doing that? It's just my curiosity.

But also it seems like she did split into a couple of people. Like multiple personalities. Gaga and Stefani being two different people. I just think Stefani knows about the Gaga personality. They're co conscious with each other

I dissociate in hectic social events like parties. I have trouble with a lot of people trying to talk to me at the same time, social anxiety doesn't make anything easier and boom... here I am staring at my glass of beer alone in a corner for a good 2 hours straight.

I used to think that was normal until somebody who was diagnosed with a mental illness told me it was not.

I don't know whether she has during interviews or not - it is a possibility. My eyes glassing over is a sign I'm about to, although its also a sign of migraines.

I wouldn't say there is dissociative identity disorder, she's just incredibly savvy about her art. I'm glad, but sad, that her letter has led to conversations like this though where people are learning more.

I've been reading up on what dissociation is but I still don't understand it. If anyone who experiences it could explain in detail what it is like, I would appreciate it. Or maybe its something you can't understand unless you go through it? Based on what I read, it sounds extremely scary.

I have issues with dissociation. When that happens, my eyes do glaze over. I look off and I stare at nothing. I'm aware of everything happening around me but I just have to literally snap myself out of it in order to stop. Does that make sense?

What do you think about when you are in that state? Do you always know when you are in it and able to get out of it?

Picture someone who has been extremely traumatized and as a result seems to have become completely numb and out of it.

I'm pretty sure that I have had it happen a few times during traumatic events. I think it's just a way the brain copes with extreme stress.

Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

I'm not thinking about anything. My mind in that state is just blank. All I have to do is force my gaze away from what my eyes are glued on while dissociating. A touch will bring me out of it. Movement. Loud noises too

It makes sense to me how and why it happens during a traumatic event. I just don't get how a trigger but otherwise safe situation, can spur such an intense reaction that can sometimes last hours or days at a time.

And it's like that you've stopped breathing but completely aware? :lolga:

Seriously, that sounds very unnerving. Does it feel like an out of body experience? I had sleep paralysis once and it was the weirdest sensation because I knew what was happening, but I couldn't get my body to move, almost as if I was outside my body.

To quote the video above, it feels like you're a passenger in your body. You're not in the driver's seat that is the body

Gaga wrote this lyric exactly because of this.
