Why do people hate Beyonce and Lemonade?

Of course I know everything will get people who hate it. I'm just asking why; and I'm actually trying to listen to other opinions respectfully. Where did I show I get upset over people hating her? I'm not getting into a pop star fight as you put it. I'm just curious about the topic, and I like to discuss music. Also, why don't YOU get upset about things that matter, not about a thread about Beyence?

Trying to turn it back on me :toofunny:

Literally, I answered your question. Some don't like the sound of lemonade, some are pressed pop stans, and some just hate it because it's fun.

First of all henny, no :madge:

Lemonade is not better than everything Gaga has ever put out. Don't state it as a fact. It might be your opinion, but it's not a fact so don't state it as such.

Second of all, you seem pretty biased too by saying that it's gonna be a classic and one of the most important albums of the decade.

And finally, I really like the album. I like it just as much as Joanne. But it is not ground breaking or spectacular the way the media tries to portray it. And adding this to the fact that Beyoncé's input in the creating process of that album is so small, it just seems so overrated.

I am a member of this fanbase and I don't respect someone who has to hire such a huge team to create everything. From her music, to her visuals, to her fashion, it just is all bought for her. I respect her as a performance artist though, she has incredible talent on stage and stamina, one of a kind and one of the greatest performers of our time. I haven't seen her live in person because I don't have that kind of money and when I do save up I prefer to see artists that I love, but I know seeing her would be fantastic.

It makes me uncomfortable when she is getting awards and praise under her name for the music and videos, it has no soul or personality, its too contrived imo. You don't need to read the label and see that she has so many writers and producers, its obvious when you listen to it, and her voice is always hitting the notes but not giving anything to dig into, its just so plastic and perfected.

I think its most obvious how soulless her music and performances are when you compare her to other greats like Tina Turner. Tina didn't write all her music, but her voice was ALIVE, and she was so authentic. I like artists who get on a stage or in the studio and are in the moment, and that's what I think Beyonce somehow lacks?

I always loved this performance, the skirt ripping wasn't planned and afterwards all she said was "that's rock n roll". Beyonce kind of reminds me of a pageant girl in a way, everything is so rehearsed.

This is ALL of course my own opinion, there are many people who are going to hear something completely different because defining soul and personality is completely objective. I think hate is too strong of a word, its immature, but I just can't ever feel anything special from her. I enjoyed watching Lemonade, but I didn't like I was watching anything beautiful or getting any kind of insight about BEYONCE, it just felt like a well made visual. I thought the spoken interludes were awkward as well, if you watch her in interviews there is no way that that poetry comes from her.

Thank you for actually using arguments to discuss the topics instead of just insulting, but I don't get why it makes you uncomfortable that she's getting all that recognition? I know her input into her work is not that big, but there would not be a Lemonade without Beyonce, even with those 56789 writers and producers, and music is what matters at the end.

i don't hate her, but it's more of the same with every album i think...

Lemonade sounds nothing like "Self-Titled" or Sasha Fierce.

Ive seen Rihanna, Drake and Kanye called overrated all the time on this forum. They say their music is trash (except I have seen some praise for Kanye).

It's never close to the extent of Beyonce though. Katy, Taylor, and Madonna are all up there with Beyonce as the most overrated artists in GGD's opinion. So it ain't a race thing.

I like her music, but people treat her like the 2nd coming of Jesus and like her music is the best thing since elctricity, when it's not

First of all, "henny", it is obviously my opinion, there is no need to write (opinion) after everything. It is implied.

Second of all, of course I am biased, we all are, we are not news organizations. All individuals with opinions are biased by definition.

And finally, I disagree that it isn't groundbreaking. An album about that depicts race, sexuality, betrayal, forgiveness, and feminism so unapologetically; mixing it with styles like rock, country, rnb, with such an excellent production and mixing, plus great vocals melodies and harmonies without having to chritinase it is groundbreaking to me.

Honestly I think about this a lot, because Beyonce really is a very talented performer, but I think a lot of white people use her as a scapegoat for not looking racist in their music tastes (and I'm speaking as  a white person). Like, oh I like Beyonce, look how progressive and not racist I am! Lol Lemonade, lol hotsauce in my bag! So translate this to something like the Grammys, where a lot of the people who vote on these things are white, and it's sort of the same thing. If we give this one talented black artist all these awards, nobody can ever call us racist again! It's a guilt thing. Awards shows especially have been facing a lot of criticisms about this lately (Kendrick last year on the Grammys losing to T Swift, all white Oscars).

This is not to say that Beyonce hasn't done some truly amazing awards-worthy work, or isn't a star in her own right. It's just an explanation of the blatantly excessive amounts of hype and praise she gets.

(I'll be listening to Love on Top til the day that I die tho)

Overrated.

And it's a fact. Anyone thinking different is delusional, sorry.

Care to elaborate?

I don't hate Beyonce nor Lemonade but the fact that people overrate her and are delusional and will be like queen this queen that is just annoying to me. There's even a school that has class about her!

The people I know who dislike it say they dont because: it's very pretentious, what she did with the material and how she released it, keeping it so private and exclusive to certain companies. A lot of people called her racist :madge:. They viewed the album after that whole scandal as egotism. Tbh in a way I feel like it was similar to ARTPOP in the way the GP viewed it. They thought Gaga and Bey were conceded and were so into their music that they came across as stuck up rather than grateful.

Which really sucks because they're both amazing albums and two of the kindest and most amazing women we have in this world. :toofunny:

Sorry yeah I should have explained that part. I think why it makes me feel odd is because she is the one who goes on stage and gets the award, and gets all the fame and praise for it. Meanwhile imo there is just too much she didn't write, design, or choreograph for her to be the most recognized. I'm aware it doesn't make sense though, because she is the performer so obviously she will be the one on stage accepting, and the one fans fall for, that's why all I said was it makes me uncomfortable. She just has an overwhelming amount of people creating for her, much more than most artists do, and it feels weird when they announce the winner just as: BEYONCE, everyone claps, she gives the acceptance speech, and then the headlines are about her and her album winning tomorrow. I know logically that's obviously the way it works, but its like she is the face of a company. Or like she is in a band, but the rest of the band mates are ignored. Sometimes that's just the way it goes, but its still awkward to watch.

But Gaga also had a class about her, she was praised everywhere, she's called queen to this day. Does that not annoy you?
