It is a ridiculous assumption that defies logic. She's also been this way since the beginning. The Fame was more upbeat, but had dark themes. The Fame Monster was about the darkness that followed her, essentially. Born this way was about freeing yourself. ARTPOP - well, just look at what happened to her personally and mentally during that era. This is not something new. She's clearly been troubled since the very beginning, and to so cavalierly disregard that and state that she faked having these problems for nearly a decade just so that she could have a MINOR promo somewhere down the line, is really insulting to anyone that claims to have any degree of legitimacy to them. Sometimes I wish we could just enjoy time with her and not demand pics and autographs. Like when the group of monsters sang million reasons for her, you could tell that they were doing it just because they loved her so much. That is one of the pitfalls of the fame. Reminds me of the CBS interview where she said that the moment she left her house she was no longer free. People can stalk her and its legal she cant call the police. Sad to see that even with fans there can be such a disconnect. Also, my dad just said he saw a report of Gagas PTSD announcement on CNN, happy that other news networks are spreading this info as IMO the more people that hear this, the further the reach of gaga and the more people she can help that might be enduring a similar situation. Haroon 49,685
Can we please not respond to trolls, it just gives them what they want and aids in the derailing of a thread If we don't give them any attention then we don't give them any power to do anything. President Trump 3,508
17 minutes ago, Letmelivemylife said: Exactly. I've noticed that in large crowds she gets what I call "the deer in the headlights" look. It's like so many emotions are running through her she just freezes because her brain is so overwhelmed trying to process everything. Poor gaga Yes it's like she's hyper-aware of what's going on and it's almost too much for her to take in at once. She stated, during The Fame even, that she took Xanax regularly. This is not a drug that doctors just readily hand out. Maybe to her, but it's not ever something that you can just go pick up, and it's normally prescribed by a psychiatrist after they have a proven record of the problems you're experiencing, because there is such a high potential for abuse of the drug. You have to have clear proof that you need it. There are also mannerisms she exhibits that make it clear, to me, that she has physical reactions that she can't control, i.e., hyperactivity, and hyper awareness. These are symptoms of two things: major stress, or a biological baseline established by drug use. She displays this in the way that she is constantly moving, fidgeting, adjusting herself, and using her hands, body, and facial movements in manners that respond to every single situation that is presented to her. Body language is not normally this responsive. The first time I really noticed this was right after Born This Way leaked, and she had an interview with a black veil over her head (the interview where her eye was wider because the veil was stretching her face). Her body language indicated what she was thinking - moving away from the speaker in a manner that alarmed me and was so reactionary that something clicked, and so I started paying attention to her physicalities in interviews. Her body language is responsive to EVERYTHING. This is a form of hyperactivity that takes over the body, and causes the body to become acutely aware of its surroundings at all times, and to respond in a way that is uncontrollable - however, the mind notices what the body is doing and how it is reacting; it just has no control over these micro expressions. This awareness leads to total exhaustion in some patients, and sometimes the exhaustion can be so severe that a cocktail of medications are introduced in order to control it, because the mind is working over time as the body is constantly sending unnecessary signals to the brain, that the brain has to respond to. This can be so interruptive of daily life that it makes even simple tasks such as reading difficult, as the body is continuously sending signals that danger is present, even when you're home alone. Like I said earlier, this is a result of heavy drug use that reformats the chemicals in the body, or it's a result of severe trauma - or both. Gaga attempted to calm this, clearly, with Marina Abramovic, and Gaga tried several things, all of which requires absolute stillness. Her sitting in the creek with Marina, her walking as the goddess Venus slowly in controlled movements, her "centering herself and moving slowly" in the interview she had during ARTPOP where the mannequins were all around her. These were all attempts to forcibly calm the nerves in her body, which were out of control. How can I be so sure of all of this? Well, I suppose that's irrelevant. The information is all out there. I have my own life history that has proven these things to me, as well as my educational history, and my work history. An additional point, which is more or less just an attached theory, although there is evidence to support this, is that this sort of change in the body is made evident in several very visual ways. Gaga has always been criticized to some degree by a lack of fluidity in her dancing, and while she's not a bad dancer, there is some degree of control that is not present in more "natural" dancers, who seem to move fluidly. Gaga has even stated this. The same can be said about Britney Spears, who went from one of the best, natural dancers in music, to suddenly becoming stiff and, at times, alarming to watch dance. The change was significant. Britney also fidgets uncontrollably in interviews, and reacts in ways that isn't normal, or at least didn't used to be normal for her. So my point is that the evidence is in the entire history of Gaga, her body language, her artistry, her support system, her detailed stories, her in-depth behaviors that reveal what's important to her - because as you age, you want more than anything to be your true self, and to act on measures that truly influence your life and your decisions. There is no reason to do otherwise. Ma ma pa pa pa
Woolfsmck 2,763
"Deer in the headlights look" = Stage fright ... which is common to most performers, but the good ones hide it better than others. "PTSD" = Replaying a traumatic episode inside your imagination over and over again, losing contact with current events temporarily. The two may or may not be related. Also, clinically, each person who has been thru a near death or life altering episode will deal with the event differently, most can suppress their anxiety or simply cover it up so nobody else can see it. Others "PTSD" can cause them to act irrationally, or say an do things that the people around them can't make any sense of... Returning military personnel can be dangerous if untreated as they may act on events that happened to them during combat. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. Katie14 4,828
@Ma Ma Pa Pa Pa I read your comment. I think its really interesting. I have definitely noticed Gaga fidgeting a lot in some interviews, especially some recent ones. But couldn't that be explained by her just being tired and nervous about being interviewed? I never noticed her movements as being reactionary or overly reactionary. And I always thought of her hang gestures (talking with her hands) as part of her expression. A lot of people talk with their hands. I think its a learned behavior and its especially common with Italians. Do you have any other specific examples besides the Extra interview you mentioned? A lot of people talk with their hands. I think its a learned behavior and its especially common with Italians. Do you have any other specific examples besides the Extra interview you mentioned? I would have to go home and find specific examples - they're everywhere. Her body language is in constant motion, not just to drive a point home, and lately she is exhibiting moments where she's still, but you can tell it's a forced effort to stay still that requires a lot of concentration. Of course I'm not her, so I can't say that for certain, but I've had a lot of experience in this, personally, professionally, and academically, and she's showing signs, just from an observational standpoint, of this being the case. This is backed up by what she says and talks about, and this type of movement is a symptom of these diseases. It's also not about wide-ranging movements and deliberate actions, it's more about micro expressions and reactions in her body that aren't so noticeable, but while it's not noticeable all of the time outwardly, it's something that she feels strongly, usually in rhythm, as the body sends signals, normally without justification, as a type of defense mechanism, and this requires her to exert energy whether to simply acknowledge and deny the recommendation the body puts forward, or by complying with it, but it's a severely exhausting state of being as her body is reacting to situations and events that aren't taking place, and her body is truly in constant motion, which not only means that she can't sit still, but also forced fluid movement is a semi-conscious decision to compensate for your body behaving this way, and it's a form of controlling those reactions and aligning yourself with this new pace that your body is forcing you into. Essentially it can cause severe depression and incredible exhaustion, and meditation is normally a proposed way to counter it as the only stimuli you will be experiencing during meditation is what your body is telling you constantly, and you align yourself better with it and find a sense of peace within yourself, because this is not something that normally goes completely away. Cocaine use can cause your body to get into an alternate rhythm, sometimes permanently, and so can traumatic experiences. Unfortunately, many traumatic events occur under the use of heavy drugs, and so paranoia can run rampant for many years after quitting. That's not to say drugs were the only factor but people rarely walk away from using drugs, even at the moderate frequency that she did, without their life being altered negatively in some way.
