My I remind you most of America was built upon fleeing... Protestants? yeah. And soon after that we had the brilliant witch trials.

Religion is ingrained into the republican party, and unfortunately, anywhere they reach. So while we believe there should be a seperation of church and state, it hasn't worked that well.

Not to mention with religious freedom worked into our government as well, religion plays a big part into our government no matter what.

There are few Republicans who I'd believe wouldn't turn US into a theocratic state based upon Christianity if they could.

Popular vote - sorta useless while not totally. While it determines how the electoral college should vote, it doesn't necessarily mean that is who the masses want. Hillary won the popular vote across America. However, trump won the electoral college, which means he has won the presidency.

It essentially means this:

Enough Americans could vote in Hillary, however, enough people in other places would vote, and effect the electoral college, and so essentially Trump won.

Basically voting for a President is worthless unless you live in a swing state or a state that could swing.

Unless they decide to change how we vote next election so this stupid **** never happens.

They are nominated, being an elector is not really comparable to someone doing their job in the workplace.

This elector will be considered to be a Faithless Elector...members of the Electoral College who, for whatever reason, do not vote for their party's designated candidate. Since the founding of the Electoral College, there have been 157 faithless electors.

The citizens voting is really a formality at this point. The president is actually decided by the 538 electors in the electoral college. Each state has a number of electors (Texas has 38, Florida has 27, etc) and usually (almost always) the candidate that wins the popular vote in that state will see those electors voting for them in December. However, they don't have to back up the popular vote from their state. So yes, if Hillary were to win Texas but the electors wanted Trump, Trump would get Texas' 38 votes.

This system also allows someone to get the winning number of 270 but lose the popular vote. Hillary has more than 2 million more votes than Trump but because we live in a republic rather than a democracy, Trump is set to win. That can change though. I believe 6 pledged votes for Trump have said they're not voting for him (2 or 3 are writing in Mitt Romney ) so who knows. If this keeps up, he may be screwed out of so many electoral votes that Hillary would beat him. There's also the possibility that the electors will just vote for her. It's a slim chance and very unlikely but if it ever happens, 2016 would be the year.

Regardless of who wins, we'll be fixing this broken system soon. Democrats hate it 'cause it's cheated us out of two presidents (Al Gore and Hillary) and Trump has always said he believes it should be abolished and he stands firm in that belief today. Of course, Republicans don't want it to go anywhere but that's because they're the only ones benefiting from it

County Clerk who refused to do her job and issue marriage licenses to gay couple for religious reasons even after federal government said she must. The GOP lionized her after they jailed her for standing up for her religious beliefs. (She broke the law, which is not built to cater to religions  )

It'd be funny if this guy was voting for Clinton, because he'd be using the same excuse Kim Davis did (biblically not okay) but they'd be booing him instead
