Never faced racism but homophobia started when I was around 15 and I encountered it almost every day, in psychological and physical ways of abuse. Things have changed now for the most part.

In Chile, I was always called out when I was around 10 (not anymore because Ive adapted to some of their customs and proudly call myself Chilean as well) for being “too foreign and australian“ (was diff to make friends back then because of that), and everyone assuming that Im rich af because Im white. That last part I never understood because Chile is a fairly white country and it is not a particularly wealthy place for anybody... 

I now study in Belgium and I only hear/get homophobic remarks from elder people and northen Africans. Those chavvy moroccans are the worst threat for us homos in Europe. I went to school (Brussels, Anderlecht) which was roughly 50% of them. And in the very often class debate they always freely expressed of how gays are spawns of lust and ****, saying it is unnatural, that homos are disabled, a choice, and secretly want to be women, that they should be burnt and thrown off cliffs. The teachers never stopped them because they called it faith, when I did say they shouldnt be cunty I was called racist.. fml. Im surprised Ive never been beaten up at that school, theyre all so cruel to eachother. After a while they would forget Im gay and ask for me to help them homework.. I did still, I thought I should be diplomatic and just show that homos can be smarter than them lol. Not all moroccans are homophobes tho, fair bit of them stood up with me against the bashing. 

PS: I do think is important to add that Brussels is NOT a gay friendly city, with plenty to do as well. I hate seeing so many ads, tips and tourist pamphlets and polls saying that Brussels is one of the most gay friendly capitals in Europe. Its a big fat lie. Gays (me too)  are afraid to be open in this city, because at any moment you can have a gang of moroccans jump on you. The nightlife is tiny, like two or three alleys only and its filled with old men and poppers to the gills.

I'm not black, but I'm mildly dark-skinned (like Jessica Alba, sometimes she looks white, sometimes she looks "latina", I'm kinda like that), and in Argentina, at least when I was a kid, that's enough to be considered "black" and being discriminated as such. 

 I feel you about the race thing, Southern Cone latinos are pretty racist and xenophobic.

There were a few individuals in paticular that were really nasty, but what was even worse was the fact that people chose to stay away from me. I felt extremely lonely. I think one of the worst things was that one day I stood up for myself once by punching one of the worst kids and then that group went to a teacher that hated me and told him that I had been bullying this kid. I obviously wasn't but the teacher himself was I expect homophobic and went along with it. I told him what had been going on and he told me that I shouldn't be surprised because of the way that I act and that I was asking for it. I was so crushed and depressed, I even contemplated ending it but I somehow found the inner strength to overcome it. I felt like I had nothing to lose so basically started acting out and thought "f*ck it, if people already don't like me then I might as well be an asshole" and ironically that made people like me.  A few fights later, arguments etc and I ended up being in the "popular crowd" by the end of my second year because I acted out. I carried on for a couple of years until I was just getting into trouble all the time and realised I was probably going to fail school if I carried on.

I wouldn't wish how I felt on anyone but in a way, I am glad it happened because it basically taught me how strong I can be and it's given me so much confidence now. Plus it's taught me how to be a real asshole so I feel pretty confident in my ability to out asshole anyone.

I remember in primary school I used to be asked all the time what color I was.  They would say you're not black, you're not white, so what are you? I didn't know what to say at the time so I just said yellow(i'm hispanic) LOL they wouldn't play with me because I was a "weird" color and I have memories of using the seesaw by myself

More recently, I went to check out and the lady at the register said to go back to Mexico and she wouldn't check me out.
