I'd actually be kind of pissed if she makes serious music and gets praised and tons of awards, and when Gaga does it she gets somewhat low praise, low charting, and little recognition (and with the metacritic scores I'm not putting my money on any Grammys, but I really hope it does). If Katy follows another Gaga move that Gaga gets bashed for, and Katy gets praised for I will choke myself with a Firework (oh lol I meant plastic bag :neyde:)

So because it didn't work out well for Gaga, Katy shouldn't have the chance?

Gaga and Katy are two separate women with two separate careers. The recognition of one should not need to happen only if there is recognition of the other.

Tell me, did Roar also kill the commercial careers of the other artists who put out singles around the same time? Or did its position on the charts only magically impact Gaga?

Look, we gotta drop this useless feud. If someone puts out a worthy album they should have just as much chance as anyone else to win a Grammy - even Katy.

Jk I have no problem with Kety, I don't blame kety for what the media says about her or Gaga, I'm just more annoyed with the media looking at things Katy does that Gaga did before her (not saying that Kety copied Gaga) and they praise Kety for being innovative but bash Gaga for the same thing.

Kety has catchy songs, I'd only expect a Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance because her ballads are just not good imo, not related to the "feud" with Gaga. I think she's on the same par with Taylor and she has like 42 grammys so I don't see why Katy doesn't have any

I don't have like record books of everything thats been said about Gaga and Katy, but its been going on Gaga's whole career, even if it wasn't Katy being praised it was another more GP friendly pop star, whether it be acting outrageous and over the top through fashion, music videos, general antics, live shows and stuff like that

But that was mostly back in 2013, but I have a feeling if Katy released a stripped down album, because she's more popular commercially, she'll get a lot more credit than Gaga did for Joanne. But again its not Katy's fault, and Gaga wasn't the first person to go from Pop to "Indie" I guess lol

Idk maybe I'm just too salty for my own good

Kety's fine tho...

Katy released a stripped down song and it didn't do well. Rise? People aren't here for it.

I meant like decent stripped down music, all of her stripped down singles (Rise, Unconditionally, Wide Awake) were not anywhere near her upbeat songs, and they didn't really seem genuine

tbh very little about Katy's career in the last few years has seemed genuine

My question is, why did it stop? I don't think she got any worse. If anything, she has grown more as an artist since then.

They just gave her an Ortner Award this year though?

Joanne was safe as hell, at every single point possible, and about beyonce and her roots, I am not sure if that is gaga's roots, it hard to believe that her roots are country/influenced when she was a rich girl in the most mainstream city in the world

For Gaga, it wasn't safe, though. It was the most organic sounding her music had ever been, the most real her lyrics had ever been, trying out genres she'd never attempted before. When I said "go back to her roots," I meant the roots specific to her, which was instrument playing, raw, unfiltered vocals and a bit of rock. Whatever an artist's roots are, critics tend to respect when they do it. Same for when they're being real and organic. Gaga did all this and wasn't praised. What's that about? Here's a good example - Beyonce was praised for her support she gave to her black identity with Lemonade, that she told good messages that needed to be heard. Gaga puts Angel Down on her album, a song inspired by Trayvon Martin, which was far bigger support for the black community and far more heartfelt than anything Beyonce put on Lemonade. The consensus? The critics didn't have much to say about it. Mixed. Meh. Double standards, thy name is critics.

I'm talking about critical praise in general, not just from the Grammys. After BTW, all she got was mixed reviews for AP, C2C and Joanne. Why did the critics fall out of love?
