That's what's so interesting to me. She seems so sad now and apparently she never liked most of her life back then, but she seemed happiest during her Fame/Monster/BTW days and it reflected in her work because she was very passionate and driven and took it seriously.

Wasn't she high the entire time ? She was super popular and high on success, among other things. Don't be naive - that helps a lot. Of course she looked happy.

I was expecting so much from this era because I never really cared for her until Cheek to Cheek. I was expecting a great rock / indie album & fantastic piano/voice performances. I am very disappointed so far. I know this is crazy but she doesn't seem authentic to me.
I'm having a hard time picturing her doing the SuperBowl in February. She's a few years too late to my opinion. This is weird timing.

I used to love her interviews, I could listen to her for hours. These days she's always talking about the same things and crying all the time. I know she's sad, I get that.. I am not heartless, she went through a breakup and is reliving stuff through her album..but how long do you think she'll keep on crying and repeating the same stories  ???

How am I being naive of all people when I'm pointing out the obvious? High or not, she still cried and she still preached what she preaches today except that she didn't sound depressed and focus solely on her self pity 24/7.

I will agree with you on odd timing, not just for the SuperBowl but for an album release in general. I don't think she was ready to be this vulnerable since it's doing her (from what it seems) more emotional damage than good.

Lol this thread is the epitome of why I haven't logged in for a few days. If all you're going to do is complain, why not jump ship and move on? It's a perfectly normal thing and happens all the time.

I love this era, and I'm actually having an easier time enjoying it with my non-Gaga stanning friends (who love Joanne) than I am with some of the fellow "fans" on this site.

I actually logged in because I finally watched that interview. Some of you make it sound like she was sobbing uncontrollably, which couldn't be further from the truth. She even said she's in a better place now, how she used to have trouble splitting away from her "Gaga" persona. I don't understand those who seem to say she's depressed, when it seems like she has a very good grasp on life now.

Not you in  particular, I meant ''all'' the fans.

Not trying to be mean but is it possible that she could be a habitual or a pathological liar? I seriously mean no disrespect but I have thought about that for awhile but would never allow myself to say it.

I think she got herself in a never ending spiral / a maze .. and she just can't find the exit...

When she doesen't act as a lady these days, she is for me much more authentic than for example during some ARTPOP moments or some early The Fame days.

And by the way: When she would not live her feelings, she would become a cold stone inside. She is a human and musician and i can totally feel her on Joanne. I mean hear and look when she sings with so much pain Million Reasons or look at the fun performance of A-YO at SNL. So much authentic feelings.

People can only let grow new good feelings when  they can feel the old feelings completely without any censorship. And then they can be transformed, that's what she does right now.

I agree. Let's face it Joanne was a mess and even her die hard fans didn't care for it. And she seems so sad and lost right now.

Remember when she said that pop music will never be low-brow? Whatever happened to that? Does it only apply when her singles are big hits? Where's the fun anymore?

You don't seem to even know what "low-brow" means.

I mean the super bowl was ALWAYS going to be the pinnacle of Joanne.

That will be more like one pinnacle in her career, overrall! But not for the era... I mean, GP is not going to be like "oh yes, that time when Gaga released her Joanne album and did the superbowl". They'll be just excited to hear her hits from 5 years ago and backwards. And not only does this apply to GP, most of this fanbase will see it that way too.

The music was great, but let's admit... the era itself is doomed!
