Theres exeptions of course and Im sure u can think of many names that nearly a decade in or beyond still had hits but they really are a minority

 

Rihanna and Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift for example already have a much longer trend of hit discography than normal

She'll never be even half of the motivated individual with the strong work ethic she once was.

She lived and breathed her work and was always thinking of innovative concepts and ideas. Her mind was 1000% on her work and making it the best it could possibly be. Gaga isn't Gaga with just the music, don't even @ me with that "the music speaks for itself" crap, because no. Not in Gaga's case. She paired amazing music with timeless visuals and that's what made her a hit with the GP.

Unfortunately her meteoric rise made her extremely arrogant (see 2012) and she literally made enemies with the very people who helped her become who she was. Since then the utter laziness and half assed-ness is too evident to ignore. From some of the best eras in pop music to an era where there's one event per 3 weeks and in between those events she basically disappears off the face of the earth?

Gaga has crafted a masterpiece with Joanne. The music is A++++ and she's ****ing sidelining it for nothing. She claims she doesn't give a toss about success. The rumors of the label not caring about success this era were debunked entirely once they fumbled over themselves to retract A-YO when MR hit #1 for a few hours. And then once they service it to radio they sit back and watch as the song plunges down the top 100. 

I think I speak for the fan base when I say that the two words that sum up Camp Gaga since 2013 is "lost potential"

100% agree, its a damn record label, their biggest interest is MAKING MONEY FROM HER, and who doesn't want success in some form? of course she wants her music to succeed, if its her most personal album, and she wants to share it with everyone, then to her, whether she achieves that believe it or not will be tracked by its commercial success. 

 

I still can't really get over how unauthentic this era feels, she looks, feels, sounds so uncomfortable, she has nothing to grip to in interviews. The album in my eyes is not auto-biographical, it is still conceptual, her whole Joanne persona is conceptual, travelling back in time to 60,70 and 80's influenced music, to a revved up millennial inspired attire of maybe what her aunt might have dressed like and its just another era of conceptual imagery.

The album might seem like her most personal because she was literally dealing with the breakup with kinney whilst writing it, so she herself understands the meaning behind what shes written much more than we do. 

I love the music, i love sharing the music because everyone around me receives it well, i just struggle to find the authenticity. She just aint pouring her heart and soul into something she "loves" so much.

As for Venus, the video was never shot.

DWUW was announced as the second single right after it was released as a promotional song due to high acclaim. The video was most likely shot in Nov. 2013, because I think that Gaga tweeted about editing it during Dec. 2013.

Ikr! DWUW was honestly a potential hit for Gaga. One of my local radio stations who hadn't played anything Gaga since Marry the Night played DWUW (a clear signal that it was a hit) constantly during that December up until February.

I just hope that they won't do the same thing with Joanne.

This is honestly the best thread I have ever seen! I'm just so glad that everyone is realizing the truth! This might sound mean but I hope gaga sees this. Maybe, just maybe, it will make her realize that maybe she doesn't "know what her fans want" as much as she claims she does. And to all the people that say we should just stop stanning her, it isn't so simple to stop stanning someone from one day to the next; hence why it's called 'stanning'. We are just as big of a fan as you are, the only difference is we are tired of all this bullsh*t.

For the folks who seem to have this idea that promoting her album would appear too mainstream or  greedy for this particular era right now, along with the "music, not the bling" message etc. etc.

Underground musicians and visual artists are constantly promoting the **** out of their work in any way they can, regardless of budget constraints or how "edgy" they consider themselves.  It's simply what you do when you're passionate and proud of your work - call it shameless self promotion   

~~~Even watching an old interview with Brian Warner/Marylin Manson yesterday.   Not one of my favorites, but you know what? He is a genius at what he does and in alot of ways, Gaga's FM/BTW videos reminded me somewhat of his late 90's era.   Watching it even made me miss Gaga's endless drive and creativity.

 He despised mainstream music and anything with pop appeal  - he started off writing scathing reviews for top 40 albums and how banal he thought they all were.  However, he was 110% passionate and devoted to promotion of his band.  While the other band members were out partying at 4am, he was designing concert posters, going to Kinko's to make copies, and plastering them everywhere.  Manson was devoted to promo and hype, because he knew it's just part of the gig when you want to make a living doing what you love.

Does anyone feel this lack of passion/force/spark behind Gaga's work/visuals recently has to do with the fact she is now filthy rich, has 'made' it and feels she has nothing more to prove???

 

if she still weren't rich, i'm sure she'd be promoting them hits... instead of locking herself away in her mansion...
