Every era is starting to sound like a therapy session for her.

Because that is what it is. She is healing through music. CTC and Joanne were both an act of passion.

Gaga once said:

"You know, you can't have it both ways. You can't enjoy listening to someone sing sad songs about the blues and heartbreak and then not expect them to be truly heartbroken."

You know what's funny? People always pull this "You shouldn't be sad! Other people are sadder than you!"

Would you ever tell someone, "There are people out there happier than you, so you shouldn't act so happy."?

Of course ****ing not. Because an individuals emotions exist independently of other peoples'.

A family member of mine attempted suicide, but I also know people who have LOST loved ones to suicide. Does that mean I can't be upset because other people had it worse?
I love being around a friend of mine who makes me happy, but I also know people who do more fun things with their friends. Does that mean I can't enjoy my time with her because other people do cooler stuff?

Ones happiness isn't superior and ones sadness isn't inferior.  Ones career path they have chosen and become extremely successful at is fortunate. What part is difficult for you to understand?

this era is getting sadder by the minute :(

I haven't seen it yet, of course, but I doubt that the interview as a whole was particularly sad. This is just one small excerpt that they chose to highlight.

I see what she means, but I'd rather be able to afford healthcare than to talk to random strangers about the pleasantries in life. Being poor isn't fun.

I'd give up my "freedom" to have a couple million, have property, my family taken care of, be healthy (again, as I can't afford health insurance), and not worry about enjoying luxuries.

You keep missing the point.

Gaga isn't complaining that fame is bad. It's not that Gaga doesn't like or appreciate what fame has given her. It's just that it comes with strings attached. There is a price to fame, and many artists who found fame too soon have ended up dead because of it.

That's all. Gaga doesn't bottle up her feelings. She's not a Barbie doll pretending that everything in her life is perfect. That is a perfect illusion.

She's trying to reveal a hidden side to fame that many of us find compelling, creepy or crazy.

And of course she's not the first to speak  about it, but she is one of the first to be so open about it in the digital era of 24/7 social media.

The girl deserves respect.

Where did I say she doesn't deserve respect? My opinion is not as flowery as some of the opinions shared here but I clearly expressed that if her not being a 'regular girl' is really driving her down the drain then she should take time off instead of promote an album when she's not mentally or emotionally ready for those paparazzi flashes and cult-like fanbase.

And you said it yourself, Gaga isn't the first person to speak out on Hollywood. Everyone today knows it's not the glitz and glam it's portrayed to be. Doesn't take away from her talk of course, but she isn't some martyr.

You know, if it bothers you that much, there is a very easy way to avoid it all!

Um, because I still am a fan of Gaga? Lol. I can measure how childish some of you are by seeing you assume that just because I had a not so positive opinion on her recent actions that I shouldn't be posting on a forum dedicated to discussing her.

How do you know, though? The woman claims that she wore sunglasses and big hats to create a sort of "barrier" between people. She was struggling on some level. And like, those accents she had. Sometimes I think they were put on, other times I think they were her kindof stepping outside of herself to feel more comfortable.

I think she just got so caught up that it wasn't until she had a moment that everything kindof settled and she realized how much she didn't like many aspects of Fame that she hadn't accounted for.

Well if she was hiding behind those bangs, hats, and glasses all this time she surely must've known something was bothering her? What I'm saying is, Gaga always spoke out against injustice and urged us to spread kindness and love. She still cried during interviews back during her peak as well, I haven't forgotten. However, at this point it doesn't feel like she's crying out of passion anymore. She's just sad. Of course she can be sad, but she shouldn't be crying about lack of privacy and wanting to be regular around cameras and an interviewers IMO. That's as hypocritical as it gets. Because I do care about her, I'd rather she takes time off than promote an album when she isn't currently equipped emotionally. I simply just don't care to sugar coat my opinion and I think that's why I rattled a lot of feathers here. Honestly.

I get what you're dropping here. She does want to have her cake and eat it too.
HOWEVER - why can't she have that? Why can't people make music that is shared with the world AND live a life where they are not harassed?

I think we can all agree the harassment is horrible, and I never said it was acceptable. But it is known for everyone in Hollywood that you will be stalked by paparazzi. It's wrong, it's horrible, and unacceptable. But everyone knows you cannot have fame without paparazzi or recognition period. No one was able to change the equation unless they fully pulled out from the Hollywood experience.

Excuse me, but how the **** do you know what she's doing behind closed doors? You don't. Don't act like it.

If she was doing something about her issues she wouldn't be out here on what's meant to be promotion for an album crying about her unresolved issues.

Of course she's going to miss bits and pieces of her old lifestyle, but I hope she doesn't forget what she's been able to do with her fame. She's reached millions of people and has been able to help heal so many others and instill confidence within them. I hope she will continue to move forward and to try to focus on the positives.

OMG when did this happen  I went to Joanne Trattoria last night and literally sat on the chair that it's in her back in the picture  I was hoping to see Papa G or Mama Cynthia or her sister or Gaga the queen herself but no luck!

They're usually there in the morning. I stop by Joanne's every time I'm in NYC (when I lived here it was more often)with my daughter and my 2 sisters and my neices and nephews. What I love about Joanne's is it really feels like you're with family. I remember I walked in one time with just my daughter and one of the servers Megan looked at me with shock and said "where's your sisters?!?" Haha. I've seen Joe and Cynthia there several times and I've never understood the people who ask for pictures with them. When we go, they aren't "lady gaga's parents". They're just Joe and Cynthia. They're just the people we thank for a nice meal and say "have a great day" to. They're just the people who walk by our table sometimes asking how everything is and just make small talk if it's a bit slow. Her parents really are super sweet. Joe has a wickedly funny sense of humor

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

But just because you are rich doesn't mean you can't be sad  Someone in the world is always less fortunate than you.

I don't think Gaga takes her wealth lightly, she's worked her way to those millions and she gives back a lot of the money... So this isn't an issue of her being bratty, it's just about her being sad.

If this was Paris Hilton who was being interviewed.... it would be a different story.

Currently listening to Joanne

I know this is gonna sound harsh, but if she hates fame that much she shouldn't of signed onto the superbowl.

The part where you're being a jerk towards Gaga and implying her feelings don't matter just because she has money on her ****ing fansite. :nails:
