Tumblr 1,846
Personally I adored and grew up with the books and the movies so I'll always have a little piece of the series in my heart but literally no one ever talks about it anymore. Actually the last time I heard anyone talk about it was in this meme: Other than that, I haven't heard anyone mention it since the last movie came out. The last movie also under performed compared to the rest of them. What do you think GagaDaily? Mariah - Ariana - Rihanna
pedrohemg 7,802
Totally. Twilight is trash. The Hunger Games is ok. Harry Potter is a masterpiece and not even JK can make something greater.

But I think it's somewhere inbetween Twilight and Harry Potter, but closer to Twilight in how remembered it is and will be. boobtank 9,090
the hunger games was trash, a cheap knock-off of battle royale.

AlexanderMagno 10,746
Definitely not completely forgotten, and it paved the way to lots of identical movies (although most were not nearly as successful). It gave Jennifer Lawrence a lot of strength as a Hollywood force as well. But twilight defined pop culture in a way I'm not so sure Hunger Games did. Probably. Twilight's movies were much, much worse, but much culturally significant.

ryhanna 3,507
It was a fad in the sense that it was big while it was current, but now it's over and there really isn't much to talk about anymore. Regardless, THG (or more so Katniss) paved the way for young adult action films driven primarily by females such as Divergent and The Fifth Wave. The films I mentioned were garbage, but very clearly influenced by The Hunger Games success and Katniss as a figure of empowerment for young women. I think a lot of what killed the Hunger Games hype was the studio's greedy decision to try and milk the last book by splitting the films into parts. Harry Potter kind of made it work, but Mockingjay just did not have strong enough source material to stretch it out that much.

Ya I agree with all of this including the studio's greed (even tho I was so happy they did it because it meant I had longer to wait before I finally finished the Hunger Games chapter in my life ) Mariah - Ariana - Rihanna

Seeka 12,372
I was never into the Hunger Games, honestly. But it had more power than Twilight, however, Twilight still has the outreach program known as Fifty Shades. I think Hunger Games was made into a cash grab. I mean, at least it didn't happen before the series of books was finished. When kind of kept Harry Potter alive was the fact that JK Rowling didn't have all the books finished when it became a global phenomena. While we had the main four when the first movie came out, we had books released after it was popular. Not to mention harry Potter is still technically going on, but just before the main timeline of the wizarding school. Twilight never became popular due to the fact it was seen mostly as a laughingstock when it became popular. It has now become an embarrassing footnote in many people's lives. It worked for HP because there was a lot more stuff going on in the last HP book than in the last HG
