I actually think that a coalition with CDU in it (albeit with a lower amount of votes) is still desired and basically a necessity to keep the far-right at good distance. I myself wouldn't vote for Die Linke but I'm more happy with my family supporting parties that are pro LGBT-rights instead of the CDU I don't think the most people in the SPD want to be soft towards Russia. I think it's 100% certain that merkel will become chancellor. There won't be a red-red-green coalition which would be the only way that Merkel won't win. So, it's pretty much settled imo. I'm also looking forward to the elections in my state NRW in the spring of next year. It will be very forecasting for the general elections in September since we are the most populous state. Germans are in generally really anti-Russia/Putin and also really Anti-Trump. AfD might become the third strongest party, but I'm pretty sure that we will continue to have CDU-SPD coalition. My perception is, that many people might not agree with some parts of Russia's policy but they are like "It's all the West's fault and especially America's". They see Russia as the victim and think we should talk more with Putin. Both countries are not really favored by Germans. At least what I have seen.
