There are always people who find a positive gain in a party, even though it could or is against the rights of other people - we have to live with those people.

I think it's an oxymoron but whatever  

I am scared that homosexuals, women, refugees, muslims etc. will get looked down at if the AfD wins more and more percentage. I mean even 12% is quite a lot.

My parents are immigrants and my father still voted NPD in the last elections. He's planning to vote AfD this time. Where have the sane people gone

Yep that is true. But as long as the AfD doesn't get into the government I don't worry.

From Russia. I've lived there for a few years too when I was a child. They don't teach you the same amount of tolerance there as in Europe. That's why they don't even see that they're being hypothetical

It's like my family on mothers side is from Poland and they are not really rich but vote FDP

I was just being sarcastic, and reffered to that one AfD candidate who said that "homosexuals are a disgusting and degenerated species, should be thrown into a pit and burned to death". Funny, how they're against the Islam and Muslims with their "inhumane practices" and yet suggest such methods... irony much?

Now that I'm on page 11 of the dbna topic, I'm indeed quite surprised/concerned how many of them seem genuinly convinced by the AfD, but then again, quite a few gays voted for Trump/the republicans...

In the Netherlands lots of gays vote far right, but our own Trump was the first prominent politician out of the closet. After being killed in the early 00's, he's become some kind of alt-right hero and since then the alt-right has been one of the most pro-gay parts. At least it's consistent with their anti-muslim stances.

 

 

Excited tbh. I think that a SPD-CDU-Die Grune coalition would make a very good coalition. The pragmatism and centrism of the CDU is still necessary, but Germany could use more help with their drugs and poverty problems from the left.

I doubt CDU would take die Grüne in if they have the majority with SPD

On the other hand I would want the SPD and CDU to have a majority together because that means that the German public still trusts their traditional parties (which would be a refreshing story to hear on the news).

I guess a SPD+CDU coalition is just the right thing  Germany was barely hit by the 2008 financial crisis so I guess they did a good job. Their foreign policy is on point too, not at all hawkish but focused on actual human rights and democracy rather than oil and gas.

I really don't like the SPD. Last time they promised gay marriage no matter what and still they didn't bring it through If they would let the whole  parliament vote on it, gay marriage would have been through cause SPD, Grüne and Linke would have a majority.

You know, I'm sure most CDU'ers want gay marriage but Merkel is probably scared of losing the conservative base to another party. I think the refugees were quite a big issue for most conservatives in her party, and adding gay marriage to that would cause quite some internal battle. She needs to find a compromise where she gives the conservatives a little something (like a more hawkish approach to Turkey) to maintain party unity, in exchange for gay marriage.

there were even polls which stated that 2/3 of CDU voters support gay marriage
