Obviously I had to vote for Bette Davis, but Lauren, Rita, and Grace are right behind for me. Did you know that Rita was pressured into getting cosmetic procedures to make her more marketable to American beauty standards of that time? Her hair was dyed red and permanent electrolysis hair removal was done to make her forehead broader, so that she would appear less Spanish and more Anglo. Omg no, that's terrible. I remember reading about Marilyn Monroe plucking the hairs on her forehead to give the heart or whatever its called shape to her hairline, but I remember thinking it was strange and I had no idea it was common. I feel stupid for not knowing she was of Spanish descent, or that she wasn't a natural redhead. The sexism and racism is so awful, and its so disappointing that not as much has changed as you would think it would by now. On a lighter note, I've always loved Bette Davis, and I weirdly use her voice when reading your comments haha. Grace Kelly and Lauren Bacall were hard for me to ignore as well, so stunning. I don't like the societal demands of that time, but I also appreciate the class they had, it's dreamlike. FATWIFE, First Lady Of GGD

I totally love the aesthetic, sophistication of the time period, but the racism and sexism are so cringe-worthy. No wonder so many of the actresses of that time died such tragic, self-destructive deaths. Cold as ice cream, but still as sweet.

RAMROD 104,597
Liz Taylor Like, even when she is older she still retain her beauty, yes she might have procedures done but it does not disfigure her features unlike many Hollywood stars today. You can still recognize that it's her, and not Janice of The Electric Mayhem from Muppets.
