It's just that he can't just ask everyone to stop a behavior he promoted during his whole campaign. Oh yeah i know, im just saying that there are a lot of points he addressed in the article that should be discussed, like a statement on gay marriage and what seemed the most interesting, his stance about the electoral college. I thought that threatening to ban all Muslims entering the country was islamophobic! I thought calling Megan Kelly a 'bimbo' who was tough on him because she was 'bleeding from her wherever' was sexist! I thought characterising Mexican immigrants as criminals and rapists (with some, he assumes, being ok) was racist! I thought saying thousands of American Muslims in New Jersey cheered the 9/11 attacks (which is obviously false) was islamophobic! I thought saying a distinguished federal judge, born in Indiana, couldn’t be trusted to do his job because, quote, ‘He’s a Mexican.’ was racist! I thought when he said: “Is there anyone who doesn’t renegotiate deals in this room? Perhaps more than any room I’ve spoken to.” And “You’re not going to support me, because I don’t want your money, you want to control your own politician.” To the Republican Jewish Coalition that seemed kinda anti-semitic! I mean really??? That's all just from the campaign trail too, he has a long recorded history of racism. This is my favourite one because it's so blatant and Trump acknowledged that he "probably" said it. "Next in the Trump record on race came a 1991 book by John O’Donnell, who had been president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. O’Donnell quoted Trump saying,“ Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys wearing yarmulkes… Those are the only kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else…Besides that, I tell you something else. I think that’s guy’s lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks.” O’Donnell’s report was shocking, but Trump did not contest it at the time. In 1997 he was interviewed for Playboy by author Mark Bowden and he confirmed that the O’Donnell book was “probably true.”"http://fortune.com/2016/06/07/donald-trump-racism-quotes/ I mean come on... David Duke wasn't gleefully boasting about how his ideas have gone mainstream and how Trump talks about things he has been saying for decades because he gets all his information from the liberal media and got confused. The number of neo-nazi ultra-nationalist factions supporting Trump are not doing so because they heard he was racist on MSNBC. Trump supporters where not yelling "JEW-S-A!" at reporters, saying black people were better off as slaves, saying they have no respect for muslims and buying merchandise like "Trump That Bitch!" and "Hillary sucks! But not as much as Monica!" Because they were watching CNN and mistakenly thought Trump shared those values. Let me add this to the long list (he repeated the lie twice) http://time.com/4235405/donald-trump-pig-blood-muslims-story/ http://time.com/4312131/donald-trump-pigs-blood-muslim-story/ and he's supporters of course believed him, check this out: FreePalestine

lego 44,165
On topic, "stop it" seems a bit too mild and disingenuous. He even said it, because he was asked, he had plenty of opportunity to address it before, even on twitter, but he just complained about the media and "paid protesters". And like others said, his hateful rhetoric woke up the beast. Too late. FreePalestine

Absolutely, and he didn't even just "stop it" he adds "If it helps" To me that "If it helps" speaks volumes, to me it sounds so dismissive. He isn't taking it seriously. "Is it a problem? ehh sure. Do I have a solution? Not really, but if it helps I'll say stop " That's one of the things that really pisses me off, people are giving him credit for such a weak condemnation of the harassment against muslims and hispanics (after he was the one who helped inflame the racism and islamophobia that resulted in the increase in harassment in the first place). This wasn't a strong "Attacks on American muslims and hispanic Americans are attacks on all Americans, there is no place in this country for racism and bigotry. Muslims have lived and worshipped in the United States for centuries,..." type response that we would have seen with Obama. It isn't some strong message for unity, it isn't a powerful condemnation of harassment - it's a blasé response from a candidate who deserves no credit for squirting a water pistol at the bushfire he helped to create.
