I get where she''s coming from.

Unfortunately, hate speech is a popular, effective means of garnering support #fearmongering #lies #deceit :smh:

On the other hand, not ya'll turning on her every time she says a damn thing, didn't Trump make a comment about limiting free speech a few weeks ago? :smh:Where was this outrage then?

What's so bad about that? Do you think like a weird blogger that posts pictures of kitties with the hashtag #killallmen is what a SJW is?

There are people who go over board with this type of thing. There needs to be a balance.

Quote the rest of my post next time, it's important.

She does the right to be against it, but we have been using this system set up by our founding fathers and I am sure if Hillary won the electoral vote and Trump won the popular vote, Gaga wouldn't be complaining.

It is a constitutional right to be able to speak whatever you want to speak. That is our countries constitution and should not be infringed. This is not a communist country.

So if a candidate that didn't run on a campaign of hate speech and misogyny won the electoral vote and not Trump, Gaga wouldn't be complaining? Well no ****.

The fact is Clinton still has a CHANCE, and the electoral college was made for this very reason. THEY have to cast their votes in order for Trump to be officially elected and that hasn't happened yet, so yes, Gaga is fighting for what she believes is right.

She has the right to do so, stop shaming her.

So you want your free speech to be taken away from you and others? This is America, you can say what you want to say.

She was talking about hate speech in presidential campaigning not all of America. This actually makes a lot of sense since some candidates might use demagoguery to win voters (à la Trump).

She wasn't talking about hate speech for everyone in America. Even though hate speech shouldn't be a thing, making it illegal for every single citizen in the United States would be impossible and more importantly plain stupid.

First she wants to get rid of the voting system we have by going against the electoral colleges votes, and now she wants to take away part of the first amendment. This is the USA!

I know, right? I thought the left was supposed to be progressive, not regressive. This is as scary as anything Trump said :rip:

Demagoguery != hate speech.
Offensive != hate speech.

Trump said nothing that could be prosecuted as hate speech.

So many on here are coming for Gaga, and it's a little odd.

Probably just because I have yet to severely disagree with her on any of this yet, but still.

Yes! Hate speech should be illegal. Freedom of speech is a good thing but has been taken out of context by the alt-right, just like anything else in the constitution lol. What the constitution wants to protect is freedom to be against the government, to be against politicians and to think what you want to think about them. Not to protect homophobia, racism and sexism. The alt-right has completely reversed its purpose by being against freedom of speech by the media while being for freedom of speech by themselves.

I don't think any of what Trump has said is real hate speech though. Maybe Mike Pence, but Trump has been pretty cautious. Maybe he could've been sued for saying the judge with mexican background couldn't be impartial, but I don't think there's much else.

IMO, if your speech can potentially put someone in danger or take away their basic human rights, it should be illegal :madge:
