Imagine SJW get top positions in whatever council decides this.

What's so bad about that? Do you think like a weird blogger that posts pictures of kitties with the hashtag #killallmen is what a SJW is?

So we shouldn't change something just because it's super old? Like just because it's tradition? Any other arguements for it?

Also congrats at your "omg no freeze peach= soviet union=bad " arguement :applause:

The electoral college was put into placed so a few areas out of thousands, won't determine who wins the elections like a few big cities out of thousands and thousands of towns. If Hillary won the electoral vote, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but because she lost, we have to change everything because we didn't get our way.

And free speech is a right, we aren't a communist country, free speech is guaranteed. If what people say has to be controlled, this is not a free country.

She does the right to be against it, but we have been using this system set up by our founding fathers and I am sure if Hillary won the electoral vote and Trump won the popular vote, Gaga wouldn't be complaining.

It is a constitutional right to be able to speak whatever you want to speak. That is our countries constitution and should not be infringed. This is not a communist country.

Do you realize that the constitution has changed? It's not the same the founding fathers wrote years ago. Without any change made in the constitution the country would be a mess.

And no, you can't be sure of anything because it didn't happen. Clinton won the popular vote and that's it. The majority of America chose Hillary Clinton and the system failed America once again.

So you want your free speech to be taken away from you and others? This is America, you can say what you want to say.

But if the big cities have more people then why should cities with smaller populations decide the same? :duck:

And yet if someone run into your face and called you names or harassed you verbally you would and should press charges against him. How is that not the same?

It makes more sense tho

the current system in the US (and in many countries) makes it that who ever gets more votes doesnt always win which is kinda dumb i think

Here in Canada the same thing can happen where the party that wins (and therefore the prime minister) may not always necessairily have gotten the most votes from the people

Here in Canada it would be hard to change that because its very party oriented. The Prime Minister is simply the party leader of the party with most seats

But in America the President is somewhat more independant and u can even have prisidents run as independants. A change to poplar vote in US could work

I disagree because it shows the true colors of candidates like trump, i rather know what were getting into.

But I see her point

the electoral college isnt the culprit here, its a good compromise so smaller states dont feel unrepresented as that is justification for secession or revolution just like we revolted when we weren't represented in parliament. the rural areas have issues that are geographically distinct from cities that deserve to be addressed by politicians and popular vote leaves them out to dry. morally, popular vote isn't something i can support

the winner take all system that the states use that is the culprit. divide the electoral votes by percentage votes and you get a more accurate representation of what he country wants. i think this can be changed at the state level and the constitution does not have to be amended though you need all states to get on board and i don't think you'll convince the smaller states or republican states to give it up

Upset the Established Order.

First she wants to get rid of the voting system we have by going against the electoral colleges votes, and now she wants to take away part of the first amendment. This is the USA!

electoral votes is a flawed system- just because the founding fathers put it in place doesn't mean it's sacred

there have been only 4 instances of a candidate losing the election while winning the popular vote and Hillary was one of them

Yes exactly. In place where they pick the Prime Minister they also pick the local representatives and the whole party. In the US you just pick 2 names. The electral college is not needed at all.

Lol freedom of speech doesn't mean you won't face any repercussions for expressing yourself.

By your logic teachers should be allowed to teach derogatory terms in class just because it's America and we are all free to say whatever we want.

Illegal is a weird term to use but saying that presidential candidates should be disqualified by law for using hate speech makes a lot of sense.

I completely understand her but I don't think it would have helped in this case.

Using hate speech should always be enough to ruin a candidate's chance of presidency, and when it's scarily not you know your problem lies a lot deeper than with the candidate.

I don't know. While I don't agree with anything hateful that Trump or anyone else may say, speech like that, to me, just demonstrates how dangerous they are. If a candidate truly believes the awful things they say, I'd rather they were upfront about it so I know who NOT to vote for.

Unfortunately in this case, people still wanted him despite it. Sad.
