ItsTommyBitch 12,640
I think "demagoguery" should be illegal in politics, at least in presidential campaigns. It is a problem when millions of people vote for a Candidate based on the fear and hate they accumulate and not on their actual capability to run this country or conduct affairs in a presidential manner. That's a better, more specific (and maybe likely? probably not but I can dream) offense to hate. I do think Hate speech in a sense should be illegal in certain situations as well... This is one of them. The electoral college exists for many reasons, but in cases like this, it assumes that in case small differences between electoral and popular votes, both candidates have been determined as equally capable of governing. That's not true in this situation. Trump is demonstrably unfit for the job and Hillary was demonstrably one of the most qualified candidates in history The "Forefathers" Republicans are always quoting would be ashamed tbh. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから

She loses, so all of a sudden everything has to change because we didn't get out way! Love Gaga with all my heart but it's making her look like the one stirring the pot with hate. I've never seen so many whiny people about a election in my LIFE. I just want it to be over with and move on to better things! Lace up my boots, throw on some leather and cruise. YeehawKylie 7,817
This is like Jennifer Lawrence wanting to ban the word fat. Ugh, we have free speech and that includes hate speech. It's important to protect all forms of speech because hate speech is entirely based on perspective. Allowing the government to censor speech, even ones we deem hateful, is a slippery slope. The Christian Right thinks happy holidays and red cups are a war on Christmas...do you want them determining hate speech? You'd think amusician with such freedom of expression would get it... Still love you Gaga, just don't think his was entirely thought through...

reysus 1,064
this is one of the most ridiculous things she's ever said IMO. Illegal? How in the world are you going to draw the line to determine what's hate speech and what isn't?

Trump said nothing that could be prosecuted as hate speech. Goosey, let's not act like you actually care about anything you're saying. You just care about the candidate who supports guns because you have an unhealthy gun obsession. Bye
The Child 18,997
WTF Gaga? Trump's win has invigorated racists and homophobes. Innocent people just trying to go about their day are getting harassed. School children are being taunted and bullied, being told to go back to Mexico etc. (sometimes by their own teachers). This is not a trivial matter, and frankly, I wish I could be as blasé about it as you seem to be, but as a POC, I don't have that privilege. I'm glad Gaga is standing up and using her social media platform to bring awareness as much as she can. Why do her tweets about this bother you so much? She would look insipid AF if she just spammed Joanne/Million Reasons during all aftermath.
