Redstreak 6,653
https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/11/10/hillary-clinton-lost-bernie-sanders-could-have-won/ This is ****ing beautiful. One of the biggest media and news outlets that had the heaviest hand in trying to delegitimize his potential candidacy during the primaries is now writing how he was the better choice. They can suck a fat ****ing cactus. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

Voltaire 4,531
You all know where I stood with Bernie, and what I said about HRC chances if the DNC forced her into the candidacy. Vernier 3,786
Yeah and numerous publications predicted Hillary would win too, how did that work out? It's easy to come up with a shitload of pointless "what ifs" after it's already happened. The people that voted Clinton, Stein, Johnson, Harambe etc are all stuck on the same crap and will all suffer if Trump's presidency is a failure, consoling yourself that Bernie would have won won't make you suffer any less if it all goes to ****. Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

Leaf 2,429
Having a President based on gender was more important than a focus on real issues, real values, and real change. In fact, Sanders positions are more in line with Noam Chomsky.
pie-kun 1,765
But Bernie's policies were soundly rejected pretty much everywhere. Universal Healthcare, which was a cornerstone of Bernie's campaign, failed in Colorado by 80%-20%. Prop 61 which he spent a lot of time campaigning for in California failed by ~8%. Zephyr Teachout, a candidate he heavily supported and campaigned for, lost to a Republican in New York of all places. There's no way of objectively knowing whether or not he would have won, but there's certainly lots of evidence that his policies would have been met with a lot of resistance. Melibi 414
A Jewish Socialist would have lost by a much larger margin. I know the misogyny is huge (I'm female) but looking back and saying you think Bernie could have done better is precisely the kind of misogyny women encounter every day. They're already trying to erase Hillary after endorsing her. Disgusting.

Redstreak 6,653
The truth is that Republicans lost votes. There was no great resurgence of racists who came out in droves for him. Bernie Sanders rejuvenated and electrified a base. Something Clinton, a deeply unpopular candidate, could not do and it cost us dearly. You all can't sit here and just say "nawww" you have to back it up and you can't. Because to do so would admit you ardently backed your own demise for the past two years. Regardless if you think he would have accomplished anything, he would have won and that is a FAR better position than where we are now. You have yourselves to thank.
