Voltaire 4,531
This rule was put into place to protect older citizens from being convinced to put their money into investments that make the advisor a lot of money but aren't in the best interest of the older citizen. Deleting that protection means that the sales people can now consider only their own interests, and do not have to give sound advice to the elderly. It means that people could be tricked into bad investments and the courts, instead of protecting that elderly person, would simply say: you bought it, its your problem. In simplest terms, it protects the sultan from Jafar. Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker

Yeah, its a really shady sort of thing to start out with, and the direct opposite sort of thing you'd expect from a populist candidate "for the people". I'm hoping that is not the case. Consumer protections are important. Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker
