could you explain this one to me, please??

Someone already answered but basically cities that "harbor" illegal immigrants will be threatened. They will either have to change their stance or stop getting federal aid.

The fourth one:air:

How is he gonna find these illegal immigrants though:oprah:

Tragic.

I wonder this too. Do illegal immigrants never get sick and go to hospital ? :spin: Is it really hard ? I searched what "sanctuary city" city was, it sounded kinda weird. I do not know why a city would take a decision to not allow to police to ask about people's immigration status.

In my country, they would be caught easily because many info is shared with police and gendarmerie, so any illegal immigrant who goes to hospital, or checks-into a hotel, or get criminal record checked via driving license at a police search would get caught.

I was shocked at first that they didn't seem so bad, but then we got to his obsession with Mexico and the wall and his lack of care about the environment, let's just hope we have people in his cabinet that persuade him against those two things, I like the idea of cutting down regulations, but taking 2 for every 1 seems extreme

Well.

Opinions in spoiler, because it was a hell of a page stretch.

Spoiler

- Term-limiting all members of Congress?  Disaster.  Having constant turnover in a legislative body of 535 humans who all have to work together over several years to determine immensely complicated pieces of legislation that affect the entire country is a mistake.  The worst part is that this would probably be voted in by the American people, since the current mood is "**** politicians, limit their power in any way we can".  I pray that he is unable to get this through.

- Cutting the bureaucracy?  Not a bad idea.  A general hiring freeze is not the best way to do this, but might be the least time-consuming.

- Deregulation?  Generally a good idea, but putting an exact ratio out there is a mistake.  He's not gonna be able to deliver on this two to one promise, and it might not be good even if he could.

- Lobbyist ban?  This I don't mind so much, and makes sense, but how exactly would you ban them?  Prohibit them from interacting with currently sitting federal politicians and bureaucrats?  Class certain organizations as "lobbying groups" and decide that they can't hire who the hell they want to hire?  Theoretically, a good idea, but in practice, not gonna happen.  This is an idea that happens when you elect a businessperson who has no previous public administrative experience.

- Ban on lobbying for foreign countries?  Again, how is he going to enforce this?  He can't.

- Ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for US elections?  I like this idea.  But would be incredibly hard to enforce, probably won't happen.

- Renegotiation of NAFTA?  This is incredibly complicated; not gonna stretch this post with my analysis.

- Withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership?  Also an incredibly complicated issue, but overall, I don't see this as a good thing.

- Label China as a currency manipulator?  Well, to be fair, they have been over recent years.  Angering the other world economic superpower isn't a great option, but if it gets to the point where the dollar is replaced as the international standard currency, that would be a major blow to the US economy.

- Eliminating regulation on homegrown energy?  This is a terrible mixed bag.  As a person who's seen the dying economy of his hometown revitalized and now booming over recent years because of the natural gas industry, this would be hard to argue with.  However, the uptick of earthquakes in fracking areas, water pollution issues, and even the potential of other long-term public health ramifications make this a very mixed bag that could be okay, or could go extremely well or horribly wrong.

- Proceed with the Keystone Pipeline?  This is painful.  Even disregarding the potential environmental impact, watching Native peoples face having their spiritual sites developed across is heartbreaking.  If I was them, I'd blow the damn thing up.  This project would have a positive economic effect, but the drawbacks are immense.

- Redirecting climate-change funding?  Well... this is very much in tune with his nationalist attitude.  Not the smartest thing to do, but it's not the worst way he could reuse the funding.

- Repeal "unconstitutional" executive orders?  This is vague as hell.  I'm imagining trans* bathroom protections would be among those to go, which I'm not happy with.

- Replace Scalia?  This was gonna happen irregardless of who was POTUS.

- Cancel federal funding to sanctuary cities?  I support this.  It's extreme to use the "starve them out" strategy on United States communities, but if this is followed up with swift immigration reform that largely puts the issue to rest, then it's workable.  Aforementioned reform probably won't be as swift as I hope, though, because US government red tape, amirite?

- Remove illegal immigrants?  I'd prefer a path to citizenship for those already here (I'm not trying to tear apart already well-established lives, even if they are illegally here), but if this is what we end up with as we figure out immigration reform, then it's what we end up with.  I hope he realizes how expensive this is going to be, though.

- Suspend immigration from "terror-prone" regions?  I get why he wants this.  I also want increased security.  However, these are also human beings trying to escape from hell on earth.  There are many ways we can help them get out without endangering our own national security, but they're gonna be costly.

- Tax Relief?  Incredibly complicated.  The tax cuts look nice on paper.  It still floors me that a consumption tax isn't considered as a viable option.

- End the Offshoring Act?  Sounds nice, doesn't it?  How it will work in practice, though, is a huge question mark.

- American Energy/Infrastructure Act?  Again, sounds like a solid plan(from the minuscule amount of information provided).  Potential environmental drawbacks.

- School Choice Act?  I am a huge proponent of school choice.  I could see this either improving public schools by forcing them to be more competitive, or damaging them if they just don't have the means or will to do so.  Making college more affordable is great, but how you gonna pay for it, Donald?  Details, please.

- Repeal ObamaCare?  This is an incredibly contentious subject that I'm not going to touch until I read the fully-detailed plan.

- Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act?  Sounds pretty solid.  The reforms as they are outlined would immensely help a lot of my young single parent/young couple friends who are struggling to pay for childcare while they work.

- End Illegal Immigration Act?  Sigh.  Helps to address the root of the issue: there are millions of people arriving illegally in the US who should not be here, because they did not go through the legal process of obtaining citizenship.  But this plan will explode our prison population and Mexico is not gonna pay for this damn wall unless we actually go in with our military and threaten their government, which I guess is the plan?

- Restoring Community Safety Act?  Again, looks nice on paper.  In practice, who knows.  Looks to increase the prison population and tax burden on citizens.  Might reduce crime?

- Restoring National Security Act?  Lots of benefits, including an increase in defense capability, the potential economic boost to the defense sector, and hopefully improvements to the horrendous VA hospital system.  Downside?  EXPENSIVE.

- Clean Up Corruption Act?  So vague.  Probably un-legislatable.  Let's see how critical you are of executive orders when Congress refuses to limit their own finances, Donald.

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.
