The fact that Democrats thinks the election is BS when a Republican wins the electoral college, but not the popular vote is hypocrisy, when this system has been in place for 230 years now. Each state has their electoral college members for parties. Number of those members for each state is based on population of the state. (California has 55, Wyoming has 3) If you win popular vote in a state, your electoral college members cast the vote in actual presidential election for the state. Winning a state is based on state-wise popular vote... Also it is winner-takes-all which means that there is no difference between winning a state between 51% and 99% of the votes. To become president, you need 270 electoral college votes. Trump got them. Assuming electoral college members he assigned vote for him which happens 99.9% of the times. Hillary got more votes when you sum all the votes she got in all the states but it does not mean anything in US because election is not exactly federal. There is proportions but it fails because bottom limit is 3 electoral votes per state. Some states are really small. California has 55 electoral votes, Wyoming has 3. If you compare populations of these states, you would see that in California, roughly 3.6 times more people = to an electoral vote compared to Wyoming. Hillary isn't a figure that would be able to lead a movement like that, and Republicans have no interest in getting rid of the electoral college because that would obviously not benefit them.
