The problem with that is his casual representation of himself. He was promoted as the people's person. He speaks casually, so shrugging off old remarks about women is forgivable in people's eyes. He himself has been pretty relaxed about the LGBT, even on the bathroom controversy he said he doesn't care what bathrooms people use. He's given a pass because he took him self less seriously, which was perfect because you can drag up any old recording of him talking, it just won't stick because he doesn't take himself that seriously.
