TBH, she really should've reworked the DWUW era. Filmed a different MV, send a remixed track (with Christina?) to radio and do different promo spots with the remixed version. It's a great song and everyone LOVED it.

yes and

Gypsy

It's very good for radio and this song about love, family and so on - ppl love it

P.S. I'm still crying because Gypsy didn't become the single

Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No

which is why i dont know why Gaga didn't bother doing any of this.

she herself knew the song had the potential to smash (it was IN THE PROCESS of smashing too! didnt it sell 2 million copies?!?)

im still forever pressed about the hit potential it had :grr:

It reached #3 on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 (and was what on the American one? #13?). People LOOOVED it here. It was played at clubs in Toronto, on the radio and even people who didn't listen to Gaga were like "Damn, what is this song? Love it!"

Honestly, it could've been bigger than Applause...I think doing the song with R. Kelly and cancelling her video and then just going radio silent were just the worst choices that era. Understandably though, she was depressed, so that was unfortunate.

although most will disagree, his vocals were perfect for the song putting all of the things he did aside :nails:

I would have to agree! His part is perfect for the song! It's just a shame there were so many (like seriously SO many) unfortunate circumstances at the time. Not only regarding R.Kelly, but with Gaga/her team as well.

Still, at least it spent ten weeks in the top 20, so it's not like it just peaked and then fizzled off immediately. I think it got up to like 90m impressions on radio too, which isn't bad for a moderate hit with no video at all.

Also, in regards to Gypsy being a single, I do think it could have done well if it were released at the beginning of the era, though I wonder if people would compare it to TEOG. (I think they sound different enough, but I could see her haters saying something stupid like that, saying its "too similar", calling it "TEOG 2.0" and saying how she's "unoriginal" and all that nonsense).
