Yeah but she just recently posted this about Perfect Illusion. It wasn't necessary - why would she have this to say about pop music and then compare Lady Gaga with freaking Nick Cave? Apples and oranges...

Oh! :noparty::(

What does that even mean? Was there something about "Perfect Illusion" that was indicative of what one can't do with art? :oprah:

this tweet invalidates her whole stance on art, tbh.

She certainly implies there is. I asked her but she never elaborated.

Anyhow. If you look into some of her work and the stunts she's pulled, you'll find that she's kind of all over the place with her opinions. She's an attention seeker in the worst way.

you can't fully understand intent through 140 character tweets, although everyone seems to try to.

Amanda would not have re-performed that song if she was disrespecting Gaga.

I get that the full scope of someone's opinion can't be given in 140 characters, but it's up to that person to care to elaborate or not. And she didn't. Which implies she's comfortable with the message conveyed in those 140 characters.

Maybe her opinion has changed. She does that quite a bit...

I love Amanda so much. I just saw her this summer on the Dresden Dolls mini-reunion tour and she's yet to lose an ounce of magic. 🙌🏻🙌🏽🙌🏿

i wasn't talking about gagz. i was referring to the "can & cannot do with art." according to whom? her? is there a rulebook to art? it seems she certainly thinks so. perceiving the medium of art as something that is a rule-governed structure is inherently against the warholian ideal.

if her intention with that tweet was something else, then she funked up.
