Worst mainstream album titles?

I agree that an awkward name can be detrimental, but what i really hate are bland, generic and lazy names that dont relate to the music in the album at all. If your album title is "bad" it better be at least telling what the album is like.

Anti was quite disappointing considering Robyn has come up with better ones "Loud, Rated R, Unapologetic, TTT"

Prism and Teenage Dream too. Do teenage girls really dream about being juicy/covered in cream and being filled with alien semen?

I think there is something to your theory. Like, imagine trying to get promo.

"Whatcha listening to?"

"Oh, just '@nus.'"

I know the example I gave isn't mainstream, but yeah.

Hard Candy. I love M to death, but that's the worst title and the cover was atrocious! I can even live with MDNA even though it's a lazy title.

Mess for some reason I love Hard Candy's name and cover :rip: Can't say the same thing about the songs though.

I think every Mariah Carey album has a cringey name, specially "Emancipation of Mimi"

Even though it's not the definition, emancipation gives me the image of something going through a meat-grinder.

Anyone who titled their compilation album something like "Greatest hits... so far!" LOL

An album can fail if the artist at that time is not popular or they don't promote it. I think some bad album covers or names can be successful if they do it right. For example, if Rihanna had named her album R8 instead of Anti, it'd have been as big because of the singles and obviously because her name is attached to the song.

Joanne would not have sold 200k copies if Gaga's name wasn't attached to it. The music is good but the album cover and name are not as sticking as Born This Way, ARTPOP and The Fame Monster.

I agree that sometimes the cover and name can make it more attractive, but it's not always a factor. Kanye West for example or Beyoncé are examples of this.

Beyoncé - B'Day (for those who don't see it, it's pronounced like 'bidet')

Where did you hear this? Is it a joke? It's supposed to be an abbreviation of birthday.
