Yes?

In context that quote was:

"I don't think there are many people here, if any, who think

"Oh Gaga wouldn't celebrate or care if she was #1 on 'x' chart or if she won 'x' award".

They just think

"Gaga wouldn't care if she doesn't reach #1 on 'x' chart or doesn't win 'x' award, because that's not what her priority is.""

So I was talking about fans and what they think, you where talking about fans and what they think - you moved on to try and prove that last quote wrong, I countered your argument

To make it abundantly clear though, I don't think there is a problem with any artist aiming for chart success. I think Madonna is fantastic and I think there is a lot of artistic merit in her work, but she has always been ambitious, she has admitted it herself, and many people in the industry have talked about that. She wanted to be #1 and I don't think there is anything inherently wrong that having that sort of ambition.

I'm not arguing with you because I would find it deplorable if Gaga's aim was to reach a commercial market and make hit after hit - I just don't think anything you mentioned has shown that this is her main objective and your argument relies on a bunch of flimsy assumptions.

You don't make a record and employ the likes of Kevin Parker, Josh Homme, Beck, Sean Lennon and Florence Welsh because you are looking to release singles that break records or make an album that destroys the 'competition'. She was hardly employing the usual hit-makers. Ronson had success with Uptown Funk and had previous success in 2006, but there is video of Gaga talking about wanting to work with Mark since 2008 - when his career was in a bit of a slump post Back to Black.

You assume she changed her sound to reach the GP because she cares about the charts, but you could make the same assumption if she stuck with her old sound (Why is she working mainly with RedOne and other electropop/EDM producers? To try and recapture her old success?). What's more, as previously stated, there is evidence of Gaga wanting to work with Ronson in 2008 - so it's not like it came completely out of the blue.

You assume she changed her look so people like her more, rather than because she has always changed her look to suit the feel and sound of her albums, but if she kept the same look  you could make the same assumptions (Why isn't she evolving in her fashion? Is she continuing to try and rehash TFM?)

Like, no, it wouldn't matter if Gaga's aim was chart success - but you offer nothing but assertions and assumptions as evidence that she does. It seems, to me, that based on her words and actions that her main objective is about the music, not chart success and awards.

You are just digging yourself a hole.

Gaga cares about music AND the bling. But I think she enjoys making music more than money.

Wouldn't you celebrate something being successful that you created?

"Music not the bling" :saladga:

Bebe explained it so eloquently already, like, stop :saladga:

Just because chart succes isn't her main goal when she writes music, doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy when she achieves chart success.  It's really not that hard to understand :poot:

OT: BRAG QUEEN, YOU EARNED IT! :ladyhaha:

I don't see how any of the things you mention prove your point at all?

Gaga did try to promote ARTPOP more  she said she wanted DWUW to be released and when it wasn't she put her own money into creating a video for G.U.Y that also included ARTPOP and Venus. She had management issues during the ARTPOP era and problems with Interscope.

"Why she talked bad about her peers at that time?"

I don't think she did? I can't remember that, but if she did - I don't see how that necessarily proves your point?

"Her saying **** you pop music, this is ARTPOP?"

If she is saying f*ck you to pop music, wouldn't that indicate the very opposite of what you are claiming? That she doesn't care about hits and #1 pop singles? She cares about "ARTPOP'? :smh:

"Why switching genres to get new fans?"

That's an assumption? According to Mark Ronson she thought about her fans everyday and he was worried when some of the fans disliked PI and was relieved to see her fans love songs like DH and DIC. She has talked about wanting to one day release an acoustic album of just her and the piano since like TFM, she just did an album with Tony Bennett that arguably alienated a lot of her pop fans. She was never going to just stick to dance-pop her entire career.

Like many artists before her, both popular and less mainstream, she is playing around with different sounds.

"Why releasing album like Joanne which is very GP friendly? getting different people together right?"

All of her albums have been "GP friendly" she is a pop musician who likes making pop music? That doesn't mean her goal was #1 singles, #1 albums and a buckets of awards.

"Why she tone down her clothes & looks? so people like her more?"

I think it was predictable that she would eventually tone down her look  Again there is an assumption that it was so people like her more - but people liked her during TF/TFM/BTW when she had eccentric looks. She is getting to a point where she is starting to dress a little more fashionable now. It doesn't make much sense to make an album about her aunt Joanne and her family with a more analogue sound and have the same look she did for ARTPOP. She is constantly changing her looks and those looks have always reflected the music she is making from TF, TFM, BTW, AP, C2C and Joanne.

"If it's only about the music nothing of the above mentioned would happen."

That's clearly BS though

"Gaga cares so much about success & charts and there's nothing wrong about it."

She constantly talks about how she doesn't. When PI was on top of itunes, in the very first interview she did this era she literally talked about how, although it was nice she had topped itunes in all these places, it really wasn't what she was aiming for.

"+ I was talking about the fans not Gaga"

So was I :smh:
