I've tried to like David Bowie's music for over 15 years now and yet Gaga's performance was the only thing related to Bowie that I ever came close to liking

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

Throwback to the acclaimed tribute by Lorde at The Brits

I didnt like it and not because it wasnt Gaga, but I just dont like Lordes voice and she also sounds as if she had an asthma everytime she sings.

It's so confusing to me. I think probably Bowie is dissapointed by Gaga copying his signature, that lightning on his face, or what? Gaga mentioned that she's inspired and has huge respect to him. Even she has that tattoo of him and the fame was her appreciation and paying respect to him. Why can't people just embrace it rather than dissing it. I'm dissapointed by them who diss her performance . Why couldn't they just work it out together, and made a very nice ceremonial of remembering Bowie at the very first place? Gaga did everything she could to respect him and giving her best to put the best show ever to honor his death and what she got is rubbish. I'm disgusted.

I thought Gaga did well though, although admittedly it was a bit crammed. They could have cut a song or two. Stuck with the beginning, the moving keyboard and then into Heros with the holograms.

They're different tributes. Lorde's was sensitive, but her voice did not suite Life on Mars. She sounded really flat. Vocally it just ain't good, the band drowned her.

And is there really a difference between Gaga singing ten songs and literally physically translating his imageries, vs the band playing ten songs and literally tacking on his videos on a big screen? To kind of piss on Nile Rogers and Gaga, it's just tacky and in poor taste.

Either way, both could have done better. But Gaga's tribute was more entertaining to watch.

I don't get why anyone would be against a tribute performance though. I mean you're against someone loving and appreciating the person you liked??

David Bowie’s former drummer Mick “Woody” Woodmansey has taken aim at the Grammys’ tribute to Bowie in a new interview with NME. Woodmansey, who played in the Spiders From Mars between 1970 and 1973, said he and Tony Visconti turned down an invite to partake in the performance, which Lady Gaga fronted alongside Nile Rodgers, because the idea seemed “tacky.”

“We looked at it and it was going to be like 14 or 15 songs in the space of four minutes,” Woodmansey said, “and we just went ‘no, **** off, that’s stupid, that’s not going to represent anything good about him.’” He went on, “It was just, ‘why are you doing it?’ If there’s a genuine heartfelt thing that you wanna do out of respect, then you’d probably pull it off, but if there’s any other reason, it just gets tacky, and obviously you can’t stop that, they have a right to do it as they want to do it, but it doesn’t help a lot, it doesn’t do a lot.”

Woodmansey wasn’t the performance’s first detractor—most notably, Bowie's son, Duncan Jones, appeared to diss it on Twitter, prompting Rodgers to speak up in defense.

Although I kind of wanted Gaga to only do 3 songs... Maybe Let's Dance, Life on Mars and then Heroes. :)

well i do agree that it had too much songs in it.......but i dont agree that hr outfits were tacky and drawing attention to gaga........i mean when you are doing tribute you need to do everything right......music,fashion,choreography......and gaga did that.....and it was amazing.......

while i like lordes tribute......it was way too simple for and artist liek bowie.......i mean.....he was wierd.....they needed to express that wierdness somehow and they simply didnt do that......and she performed freaking life on mars......did they see his outfit for that song......

I've got an "F" and a "C" and I got a "K" too And the only thing that is missing is a bitch like "U"

This. Everyone does tributes in different ways. Just be happy that people care enough to do the tributes. So many people die in this world without anybody noticing ffs.
