Guest
Russia better prepare for a third world war if they decide to mess with everything we have built since world war 2.

Lithuania is part of the NATO (military alliance), which means an attack on the country is also considered an attack on the 28 other countries in the alliance including: - The entirety of the European Union (Germany, Poland, Belgium etc.) - The United Kingdom - USA - Turkey And Putin knows that. NATO's military capabilities are like 10x bigger than Russia so Russia will never invade a NATO country. It's all just scaring the other side. Russia attacking NATO would be the end of the world. Both countries where Russia annexed something (Ukraine and Georgia) were looking West for the EU Geopolitics is very complicated... it's always about strategic interests: - War in Afghanistan -> Russia wants a port with warm water all year for both naval/military and economic purposes. Afghanistan is on the way to the Indian Ocean. - Crimea -> Russia needed a port in the Black Sea - Syria -> Russia has a military base in Syria in the end it all always comes down to leaders taking the game that is geopolitics too seriously leading to war. That's totaly ok, right? Double standards... I just hate how people are making an enemy and evil from Russia when in reality US is doing the same or even worse things around the globe and no one is saying two shits about it. But as you already said we are living in US dominated world so what can we do about it. I guess you don't support Kosovo being independent. Yet you support Russia seizing Crimea? I think you're the one with a double standard here. Simon didn't give his opinion on Kosovo and thus you can't say he has a double standard. What Russia did with Crimea was completely illegal: 1. The voting process was extremely flawed. I don't doubt that there would've been a majority for Crimean independence even in the case, but at least have the guts to do it with watchers from both sides keeping an eye on the process. 2. Ukraine did not give approval for this referendum to happen. A referendum like that should always be approved by the country itself, like in the UK and in Indonesia (Timor Leste) 3. Russia and Ukraine signed a contract in the 90's, which stated that Ukraine would give their 5000 nuclear missiles to Russia (from USSR times) UNDER THE CONDITION THAT Russia respected Ukraine's territorial integrity. I'm pretty sure Russia regrets invading Crimea. They haven't seen economic growth since then - for a big part thanks to the sanctions, they are barely able to pay the pensioners in Crimea, Crimea has no infrastructure or economy and it has generally been a gigantic embarassment for Russia on the world stage. Many Crimeans themselves regret it, too. There's no more tourism in Crimea and the sanctions make it unable for any normal business to function there. Russia keeps slashing social welfare for Crimeans. Crimean Tatars, the original habitants, have mostly fled to Kyiv. The truth here is that a majority of Ukrainians want to join the EU and want Ukraine to move westwards. Russia will have to deal with that. They're a declining power with a declining population and a declining economy. If they only stepped back from Syria, stepped back from Ukraine and conceded they would actually be able to develop something other than their military. When and where did I say that I support Crimea independence? I just said making referendum and wanting to leave =/= Russia invading someone. Serbia didn't recognize Crimea and is respecting Ukraine territorial integrity. On Kosovo there wasn't even a referendum they just proclaimed it like that. Very legal thing to do... Crimeans do not regret it for sure, they have the smallest taxes now, so everything there is much cheaper Everyone else in Russia (everyone who's still in their mind) of course does regret it

The US doesn't see it as their problem. Same thing happened in WWI and WWII, then the sinking of the Lusitania and the bombing of Pearl Harbor happened well after the war had begun in Europe (and Asia in WWII). This is so frightening because it seems that the world is treating Putin the way they did Hitler when the powers right before the war gave him the Sudetenland and then he ended up invading Poland and Europe was powerless to prevent it
