She should stick to that instead of bad Rocky Horror remakes.

remakes? :flop:

Plus, Laverne's acting is fine, the remake was just absolute sh*t in general.

I like her a lot but she shouldn't even get cast in the first place. Dr. Frank N Furter is not a woman.

Let's not start with the ignorance now. The magic of theatre is the felxibility of certain roles and Frank has been played be a woman many times. And on a side note, The only negative thing about the original was the direction; the actors all did fine

It's not ignorance. It just doesn't make sense. Dr. Frank N Furter is supposed to be disgusting and men are supposed to be confused, disgusted and aroused at the same time by him. When you see Laverne in that movie, why wouldn't any man be attracted by a gorgeous glamazon who's coming on to him? It makes no sense at all. The problem is not her being a woman, but they wanted to be politically correct by casting her when in fact the character isn't even transgendered lol.

And I'll have to disagree about the acting. It was all too PG-13, looked like a bunch of teen theater geeks playing characters they can't fully comprehend yet. Rocky Horror is about raunchy, filthy sex that you don't even know if it's ok to be having. It's supposed to make you feel funny, grossed out but attracted at the same time.

Well considering the remake was for a family network(? I live in Australia so idk about American networks), it's not like they can fully remake it with the 'raunchy, filthy sex' factor. Granted that means it shouldn't have been made in the first place, but still.

And also I feel as though you're just turning up Richard O'Brien's definition of Rocky Horror 100% and it isn't cute. :toofunny:

Actually it's about owning your own sexuality. That's what puts off Brad and Janet, not because Frank is "Disgusting" yet "Sexy". They are confused because they aren't used to seeing such sexually confident people. And they decided to use a sexually confident woman, which is a lot safer, yes; But, it doesn't change the meaning whatsoever. They meet people who are sexually free and open and learn to open themselves up.

And how dare you call Frank disgusting wtf take several seats.

Honestly, anyone can play Frank but idk why they didn't leave the character as a transvestite man, they refereed to him as her in Rose Tint My World which was weird. But I absolutely loved Laverne's version of Don't Dream It and I'm Coming Home, those were the highlights of the whole thing.

That's one thing (of the endless amount) that bugged me in the remake. Superheroes just felt so fake and didn't convey and loss and uncertainty that the original did. Like in the original they're just hanging on and they're so desperate but in the remake they're so not.

Well I've never read or seen any of O'Brien's interviews so I'll definitely be looking that up. But I'm glad to know my interpretation of the movie matches with his lol
