The promo/videos/release is what made it a mess, not the music. And anyone who went to the ARTRAVE can clearly see that the music properly fit into her world and aesthetic. Still, a lot of the album has grown so much on me and I believe the title track is still her strongest title track to date. The kaleidoscope was a good way of putting it because really the themes of the album was all over the place. 4 minutes ago, Logan said: "one of the weirdest major pop albums of the 21st century." She made a j-pop rave album about performance art, rape, gays tanning and sex at the beach with no connection or cohesion but I've got to tell you something: some songs really worked live. Especially Swine and Dope. They felt like completely different songs live. Also, despite ARTPOP being ugly, it's hilarious. Watching her going from screaming UR **** on Venus, syllabizing guy as if it was a mantra on G.U.Y and singin' nonsense over a cheap trap beat on Jewels N' Drugs to listen to art students essays turned into pop songs bangers, all mixed with a little bit of pig squealing over instrumentals meant for top 40-wanna-be artists is a LAUGH.
