The meat dress is Gaga's pop cultural moment.

And every pop star is compared to Madonna, just like Madonna was compared to Debbie Harry in Blondie in her early heyday.

Except for stans, I just don't expect Australia to like Gaga much right now. If you look at what's popular in Australia today, it's not hard to see why people aren't 'getting' her, or enjoying her. I mean, this review is a particular mess :smh:, but I just have zero expectations for Australian's to know anything of Gaga post-BTW. The last Gaga song that was popular here was TEOG (probably one of her most popualr songs in Australia).

I feel like Australia can't see beyond the 'shock' elements of her career, so crass comments from radio presenters and the like about anything she does don't surprise me.

How disappointing.. I know music is subjective but I'm surprised professional reviewers can't recognise quality when it stares at them in the face.

As an Aussie too I see a massive decline in Gaga fans in Australia post BTW. I was shocked when Joanne went to number 1 on iTunes and JB-HIFI. Ffs in the top 50 influential gay icons list last year she wasn't even on it. Katy Perry was! And don't get me started on Roar becoming the biggest hit of the year and Applause got nearly nothing, with ARTPOP CDs full on shelves weeks later. I also rarely hear Gaga playing in gay bars. Nicky Minaj and Perry had more airplay.

Oz media hates Gaga purely and simply because she supported gay marriage early on in her career. Oz media is dominated by gays who don't want to get married and don't want other gays to get married.

We have an endemic, vindictive culture of misogyny and youth-bashing rooted in gays hating each other. At this rate Australia will be the last country on Earth to legalise marriage equality. Then we wonder why young gay men are six times more likely to attempt suicide than anyone else.

Oh and BTW that list of influential gay icons without Gaga is TOILET PAPER to me.

Everyone I know likes Gaga and Joanne. But then again, they also don't read the SMH.

Born This Way > Joanne > The Fame Monster > The Fame > ARTPOP

Sydney is pretentiousness personified. It's a beautiful city to look at but underneath it all it is a very ugly place. It honestly feels like Sydney has a wounded heart, a stubborn head and a broken soul. But hey we have beautiful beaches and beautiful tanned bodies so who cares about mending our walls?

Yeah I don't respect any reviewer who spells an artist's name two different ways in the same sentence.

Also, I couldn't help but scoff with second-hand embarrassment at the part where he talks about alter egos and how Joanne is Gaga's Mimi or Sasha Fierce. Like, what? An alter ego of... an alter ego? :ladyhaha:

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!

How is it generic? :toofunny: How the actual **** does Come To Mama sound like Madonna? :toofunny:

Seriously who is employing these second rate journalists? :oprah: I don't care about people having negative opinions at all when they're founded on solid reasoning... But it annoys me so much when haters come to a conclusion about something before they even review it, which clearly has happened here.
