Trump: Free Speech has "too much protection"

Eight to fifteen per cent is not a "large deal". It is a very small majority.

Freudian slip?

You are wrong...the facts show that.

Most Americans oppose any bans on handguns and assault weapons ban is split roughly 50/50. But this is about freedom of speech :nails:

Let's look at what Trump said:

Trump answered in the affirmative, saying he’d like to change the laws to make it easier to sue media companies. Trump lamented that, under current law, “our press is allowed to say whatever they want.”

He recommended moving to a system like in England where someone who sues a media company has “a good chance of winning.”

Trump is right that he would have a better chance of prevailing under English law where an allegedly defamatory statement is presumed to be false. There, it is up to the defendant in a libel suit to prove that their statements are true.

t doesn't seem to affect the media in England, so how would it here?

Once again,

An overwhelming majority (hovering around 90 per cent) of Americans support expanding background checks to private sales and sales at gun shows, where people can buy guns without undergoing a background check.

Polls four months ago showed that support for specific gun control measures was very strong, with 92% saying they wanted expanded background checks, 87% supporting a ban for felons or people with mental health problems and 85% saying they would ban people on federal watchlists from buying guns. Among Republicans, that number is even higher -- 90% say they favor preventing people on the terror watch list or "no fly" list from buying a gun. That number is at 85% for Democrats.

That isn't a "large deal" of people.

A mere 0.716% of Americans were incarcerated in 2013 and that was the highest rate of incarceration in the world.

An outspoken minority of 10-15% is a sizeable figure (that's roughly 30-50 million people) and one that could easily turn an election.

Enough of this, it's not a debate on semantics.

That's correct. It is pointing out real facts and statistics that prove that yogurts assumption was wrong.

I suspect the only pro-gun contact you have is Goosey on GGD.

I live in Florida :koons:

My family is literally filled with conservative rednecks. My grandmother and I are the only left leaning people in my entire family. Thanks to my dad and my cousins, I grew up around guns. I have a respect for them, that's why my views aren't as extreme as certain other people (meaning I don't support a full on ban on guns) but you're damn right I support some common sense laws that ensure safety and responsibility while keeping people's right (privilege if you ask me) to own a gun intact.

Hey Party, don't turn this into a gun control debate yet again

You're the one that decided to bold that one point. I made three others :smh:

the majority of Americans are against any gun bans and a large deal also oppose things such as universal background checks or "no fly, no buy" :emma:

That's not true. Depending on which polls you look at, 55% - 80% support common sense gun control. It's always at least over half, meaning most of us do.

Goosey, I have some weird respect for you breaking the echo chamber of liberal ideals we have here but you work my nerves sometimes :smh:

Spoiler

With the love, l.o.v.e., of course :chica:

Just because you don't agree with Trump's words doesn't mean it should be restricted.

As long as he isn't promoting hate speech, he has a right to speak him mind.

Just change the definition of "hate speech" to anything somewhat offensive and then you can crucify him. Classic tactic!

As long as the conversation doesn't dip into death threats, it isn't really hate speech
