there are "radio deals" which technically aren't payola, and record labels are a big part of the radio industry.

I dont know any official radio deals outside the ones for first singles. Im not that innocent.  I know that payola exists, but its not the norm and somewhere like in US isnt something simple to do. And Im totally fine that they arent going that way.

The song's performing just about as well as it deserves given her team's complete inaction. There's a difference between wanting the music to speak for itself and not bothering to get the music out there so that people can listen to it. It's only disappointing because unlike her last album campaign she has GREAT music here. Very appealing. But unless you're the current flavor of the month the world at large isn't going to seek out your product unless you put in the work.

Lol at the meltdowns. She had 3 of the biggest promo spots in US and she visited a lot of radio stations, some more than once per day. What you people want them to do to go at every show on the planet?

Some recent ones that were for 2nd singles (unconfirmed)

Ellie Goulding - Something in the Way You Move

Calvin Harris - My Way

Meghan Trainor - Me Too

DNCE - Toothbrush

I don't have confirmation that these songs had a radio deal, but I think it'd pretty obvious when they get huge initial updates and then start to free fall.

The Calvin song wasnt a new one? I dont know about the rest, but if all these song premiered on radio makes sense. MR wasnt even supposed to be the second single.

The first problem to me is that the radio are not playing it.

4 millions of audience is too small when you see how much the single sold.

Guys the promo is FINE, MR's fall is radio's fault, of course radios are part of promos, but she did a lot of promo spots. It's Interscope turn to pay radios now.

LADY GAGA - Million Reasons:    4.209 (+0.312)

I mean yeah there's only so much Gaga can do with radio snubbing like this. AMAs SNL and VSFS are all major spots so if it doesn't take off.. It's not from a lack of effort

"A lot of promo spots" :toofunny: If you compare this to her previous eras this is nothing.

It's not radio's fault, it's Gaga's & her team's fault.

They literally had around 2 years to properly plan a new era but they already ****ed up with the first single. To this date it hasn't been performed on TV except for in Japan and even that was just the acoustic version.

Then the mismanagement continues by not being able to decide a second single and they make the same mistake that they've already made before with Venus/DWUW and Judas/TEOG.

Just because MR was doing well on iTunes for a few days doesn't mean that they should scrap all previous plans. By the time it was sent to radio the hype was already gone and to make matters even worse the video is nowhere to be seen.

You all can scream "The Superbowl performance is coming" all you want but at the end of the day it'll only boost her sales for a few days and that's it.

The era is practically dead and I doubt that even the Superbowl can save it.

In order for the era to have longevity she'd need to have at least a semi hit single but it looks like it's not happening.
