This is not true. Today's Top Hits can keep a song in the top 100 of Spotify for months even if it had 0 airplay (See: Demi's Body Say). Not to mention radio stations now look at the Spotify chart instead of the iTunes chart when updating their playlists

And you think that it will make that much of a difference to see it at 100 and not 200 on Spotify?  I dont think so. The effect will be invisible. The song will still get out of Hot 100 next week, if cbs show and that re run dont have an effect on MR. Probably it will be there on the week with the  video.

Did that help Demi's Body Say?

Body Say wasn't even a single, and despite that, thanks to the Today's Top Hits playlist, it has 95M streams on Spotify so far in less than 5 months.

This album is launched well, but anyway I wasn't complaing about Joanne album promotion which is perfect for me, but singles treatments. Ok PI wasn't liked by GP, but MR showed potential, they just need to put this song on TTH and pay radios for spin, she's done then.

This payola thing doesnt exist at the level some of you think it is. If it will be that easy to make radio play your song, no superstar will have a flop. Do you think that Madonna or Mariah wouldn't make it happen?

Did those 95m streams help it become a hit?

Top 100 is the worst case scenario. Most songs shoot to the top 50 after TTH, so yes, top 50 (even top 100) is always better than outside of the top 200.

No? Because it wasn't a single, neither was it serviced to radio. It was a random track for fans. My point was just to show how impactful a Spotify playlist for streaming is.

I thought your point was that all MR needs to become a hit is to be added to some Spotify playlist. Yet a song that was "top 100 on Spotify for months" and "had 95m streams" only peaked at #84.

Wikipedia says that it was a single send to radio. It also says that the song was first launched to streaming services, so maybe thats why it was treated so good by the streaming services. Even with that, it peaked at 84.
