Gaga confirms videos, films (making long MV), taking different approach

I kinda wished for MR and A-Yo to slay but I'm ok with this as well. It's just a shame because MR and A-Yo have been responding well with promo. And I wanted the world to hear her music. But this is also good because radios have given her the middle finger.

That is kind of ironic, considering how she has done mostly radio interviews left and right.

Not like her old records, no 'real' single

"I'm gonna sing, make different videos and perform. I'm taking a different approach." - Lady Gaga

just films, videos & perfs

Good idea, she'll promote the album as a whole.

people will pay to see her perform in large venues over this album and future album concepts just by doing all the right things from now until then..:)

she is going to adopt the same strategy as Beyonce, with the self titled album and lemonade, she is going to promote the album as a whole (like u did say)

but i'm expecting more videos

Yaaaaaaay

I never really understood singles :toofunny: If someone can explain to me exactly what they're meant for then that would be great.

I feel like this approach is what music and art should be. Just creating music, visuals and what not. And just let the buzz carry its own.

They're meant to get people interested in the album, people who wouldn't just go out and buy the full album initially. Ultimately, they're a thing because of radio, which was one of the few ways to promote music back in the day. They're teasers essentially.

Yeah, I kind of figured it was more of a tradition thing (since radio isn't what it used to be). But singles aren't really necessary anymore are they?

I used to equate singles with music videos, so in a way, I still find them important, but Gaga's approach seems more sensible. Idk.

Gaga's approach is much more sensible in my opinion because, as you said, "radio isn't what it used to be." Radio can provide a good boost to the sales of certain artists, but it used to necessary to promote by radio. That's not the case anymore. Like, it's helpful but not everything. At the same time, Gaga really wouldn't be anywhere today if "Just Dance" hadn't been so strongly promoted by radio, and that wasn't even a full decade ago. As an established artist, she can take a different approach nowadays, but that wouldn't necessarily be the case if Joanne were Gaga's debut album.

I don't care what she does as long as there's slaying visuals with crazy fashion/storylines and CHOREOGRAPHY+TENINCH HEELS.  :madge:

Im happy that she's happy :whitney::diane:

This is literally what I always wanted her to do. To forget about "singles" being sucessful or not, just releasing videos and singing 💙

I felt so bad about "Hair" never getting a music video because "Marry The Night" underperformed, I was like "who cares, it was amazing anyways" :cryga:

She seems so free this time around, I love it :diane: . It's also a smart move considering it won't fuel this fanbase's obsession over charts and "eras" :nails:

PS: I STILL have hopes for a "Hair" video someday, Rammstein released a music video for "Mein Herz Brennt" like 10 years after the song premiered, there is still hope

Me either, in 2016 they're pretty pointless IMO :poot:

Artists should just release videos for the best songs instead of always going for the catchiests, people stream the whole thing for free anyhow,  not like a catchy 3 minute single will trick people into buying the full album anymore.

Yeah sort of. To me, "releasing a single" was always synonymous with "music video in the works, cover art, individual sale etc.). I just don't quite get it.

A catchy 3 minute single can sway people into buying the album. But with Gaga that trick doesn't really seem to work. Look at Million Reasons, it's been on the charts without being a single. Same goes for DWUW if you remember its release as a promo single, yet that whole DWUW era flopped because they tried turning it into a single. Just let it naturally get to where it is.

Gaga should just do her **** and perform whatever she wants/the management team think is best. By releasing singles and conforming yourself to performing this particular song for this set amount of time is kind of stupid.

So in reality I don't really dislike the concept of singles but rather the way they're executed.

anywho, sorry for the rambling :laughga:
