Guess there will be no Joanne Ball tour in Singapore then....

That's actually so sad, though. I spent my exchange term in college in Singapore and was actually v shocked by how conservative it was...

"Social harmony?" HA! As long as the majority are happy who cares if the minorities are oppressed!

Its baffling that a world that has came so far can still be so far behind.

I didn't know about South horea's homophobia... hmmm... It's weird. It could be like Japan. Where homosexual relationships between two men in media may have been made to cater to women.

There is also the fact, while Japan and South Korea are homophobic, that doesn't stop these super close male friendships from developing. Like the reason why we have ho yay (unintentional homoeroticism) in a lot of East Asian oriented media I think, is because men are literally this close and just barely hit the boundary before gayness. It can't be just that it's just in the media. There has to be some truth in television.

It also seems weird to Americans to, i think, where if two men are too affectionate with each other and not being bro-like, they're immediately called gay.

It's so weird.

I don't want this to sound racist but I wanna speak my mind so keep in mind that I grew around seeing only caucasian people, extremely rarely african people (I did not grow up in US or Canada). So I do not know anything about how hotness is perceived in East Asia compared to mediterranean coast.

Most male south korean popstars look like twinks; their bromances remind me of couples of fem twinks where both boys look like a submissive bottom. Even saying this makes my brain think of images of pink rabbits jumping joyfully under a rainbow.:laughga: What can be stereotypically gayer than that 😂
