ARTPOP's bashing from critics was to be expected considering she hopped too late on a trend that was dying at the time, and trying to being over the top musically after a very loud album. She had it coming.

But this time, this is different, Joanne is actually a groundbreaking, innovative and amazing album, unique and impossible to compare to anything released recently in the pop field. These lukewarms reviews make me mad 'cause they're unfair, most of the time stupid and sometimes they don't even focus on the music. This album deserves at least 70+, but it looks like critics and media won't come back to Gaga anymore. And that's a shame 'cause they could not only help to sell albums and singles, but also to recreate a status that she lost (see : critics and media with Beyoncé before and after Self-Titled and Lemonade)

I agree and I really don't like Lemonade, maybe cause I'm not a Beyoncé fan but it's so boring imo. I don't get the critical acclaim I feel like she could record herself fanny farting and people would be like, "omg so bold so revolutionary"

Note: On the plus side, "Joanne" hasn't even been officially out for 24 hours yet and is already the #4 Most Discussed Album of 2016 on Metacritic, with only "Lemonade," "Anti," and "The Life of Pablo" preceding it.

And considering her critic reviews range from 40 to 83...looks like our controversial queen has returned :golfclap:. As long as she remains polarizing, she remains extremely relevant, despite the underwhelming chart performance of PI.

The reviews annoy me as well, because I do believe they're unfair. If the album was sent to critics under a different name, I am pretty convinced they'd be giving it higher marks. A lot of people, critics especially, enjoy being over-critical of Gaga. It's annoying. She got pegged as an innovator 6 years ago, and now everyone wants to critique every facet of her work to analyze whether "she lives up to the title" or status.

Enough. Joanne is a beautiful album that, while it doesn't necessarily tread new ground, definitely incorporates influences and musical genres not present in pop at this moment. It's lyrically strong, full of passion and influence. I don't mind a negative review, but what does bother me is when the content end up being secondhand to the persona in a review on the music.

Considering Born This Way got a 0 from one critic......I don't think it should be held that highly. Literally a zero. Which resulted in BTW getting a 71. Meta critic doesnt do a very good job of monitoring the critics and casting aside total BS reviews. So do not worry ya'll

I agree. Except for a few tracks here and there, I feel there's more fascination and acclaim for her image rather than her music in itself. Her albums are full of fillers, good songs keep being snubbed (Freedom, DHY, PYCM) for bland songs (Hold Up, Sorry).

Back on topic, as usual we're off for a messy era media-wise. **** it, at least Gaga did her job as an artist and a musician, now it's time for her marketing and PR team to get to work.

They're a bunch of cűnts.

Metacritic doesn't count them all, making the entire site POINTLESS. And most critics aren't professionals so are just uninformed nobodies with a platform to chat nonsense.

What a joke of a system.

I've never really minded my faves getting bad reviews but it truly gets me heated to read 90% of the negative reviews that have to do with Gaga. Most of the critics that bash Gaga (yes, MOST) know exactly what they're going to say about her before they even hear the music because they review HER instead of her musical projects and that's why I cannot stand to read the trash they put out. It hurts me that an artist as talented as Gaga can't be appreciated for her art by so many people because they don't want to look past outdated ideas that they have about her.

Exactly this. I've recently viewed the metacritic scores for Born This Way and I saw that. And that is totally laughable and unproffesional as hell. I don't know how BAD album would have to be to give it zero! There are terms of production and everything that should come into consideration, not only things like "I don't like anything from album I will give it 0". It's ridiculous. That only shows how important those reviews are to be honest.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Exactly. Metacritic is crap as far as Im considered until they begin monitoring who is actually reviewing as a 'critic' and making sure the reviews aren't biased AF.

That 0 ruined BTW's average. It could have been in the 80s

Billboard will give her an 9.5 I hope. They're waiting to see how many bad reviews she's getting, so they can decide to give her even a 10 to improve the score.

They gave ARTPOP 86 so I don't know what to expect. They give really high scores.I'd be okay with anything over 75
