SPIN reviews Joanne

[...] Gaga’s rhetoric has always been at least a little hollow—during her Monster Ball Tour, she preached the virtues of individuality to a room full of kids dressed like her. Grandly gesturing trumps the gesture’s practical implications for her brand–say anything negative about her publicly and see just how benevolent her fandom is. But as musicians are expected to be outward facing their inner workings become increasingly literalized. (To be fair, the same could be said for most of us.) It’s understandable that Joanne finds Gaga performing authenticity, if only because it’s the strongest way to convey artistic evolution to the masses in 2016. The image here—the illusion, really—is as imperfect as it is meticulously rendered.

So what she says is hollow because her fans do things that are out of her control? :awkney:

How embarrassing. If he has to feed his family with this "job" then they better start looking for homeless shelters soon. How does this even get posted?

Yeah, sure. Other popstars were far better teaching children how to twerk.

Joanne just can't catch a break. Another article just saying that Gaga is a try-hard fake, on an album about her family. Whatever.

The cynicism regarding Gaga is so unwarranted. If they listened to anything Mark or Gaga had to say about the album they would know how ridiculous it sounds.

What the f*** is the problem with critics? No matter what Gaga does, it's never good enough for them and she's always accused of being fake, even with her most authentic album to date. I mean, really, I feel like every damn media outlet has a personal vendetta against Gaga at this point.
