Umm, it is a common case, though. I'm just calling it before it happens. I've seen it happen literally every single time anyone who isn't black speaks out in support of BLM. I was just thinking about it after she made the comment, and I'm hoping it's not the case. But I don't have high hopes, especially when it comes to Tumblr. It's just ironic to me how people offer support and solidarity, but it's turned down and taken as offense because the person offering it isn't of the same color.

Like I said pseudo intelligence. Everyone YOU have seen. There have been many other Caucasians celebrities as well as other  white activist who were embraced and admired for standing up for causes that affect the black community. What you are saying is just not fact and you are making sweeping generalizations. You look at the white people who were victimized by being condemned but not the ones who were embraced and you decided to come to this absurd general conclusion. And I wasn't trying to paint you as a racist but @Edonis didn't come of as a (dare I say it again) pseudo intelligent racist in his thread. Also know as Scientific racism if you want to look it up. But I don't blame you or any of the other on this site who generalize us and make these conclusions as if you know the black community. Most of the time this type of racism is subconscious. You wouldn't want me to put you in a group and make absurd statements about that group.

Of course it will happen but people will find an issue with anything. The same ones that would criticise her would probably be the same ones complaining that major white public figures don't care/do anything about it. The negative voices are always louder than the positive ones, sadly.

Gaga has handled everything around this in a very respectful manner, which I absolutely appreciate. She has outright stated that this is her perspective as a white woman, as somebody who can only channel her feelings and the feelings of her fans and friends through her more general perspective.

She has acknowledged her privilege and place in society, which, while it should be a standard given, is outstanding nonetheless (considering people don't even pass that).

Less "white Savior Complex", more "I can use my voice to do something good".

Also, I feel like the most likely reactions, at least the most vehement ones, will be the people who don't support #BlackLivesMatter. Y'know, the #AllLivesMatter club.

God forbid you read the absolutely obtuse comments on her Instagram posts where she directly posted that Black Lives Matter.

Stan Twitter is as horrifying as it is fun, honestly.

Not saying all, but a majority of their collective actions are just so... uncritical? And fairly scary and dangerous.

Exactly, the behive pressed and saying she's doing this for attention. It's disgusting at least she's saying something she at least wrote a song about it and by doing so she's acknowledging the injustice in America unlike any other  singers/songwriters

I'm sure some of them are not, but I think if any response should be completely ignored it should be that of pressed stands.

They are doing the injustice of turning a song borne out of compassion and empathy into a way to down Gaga in comparison to another artist. They are being short-sighted and nasty, and in fact, being a bit disrespectful towards the songs inspiration, itself.

Gaga did not sit and try to write the next Lemonade to appeal to the BLM movement. She was personally effected by a terrible tragedy and wrote a low-key yet beautiful song regarding it.

If people want to take that negatively...well... that is their issue to rage over. I hope people have enough common sense and sensitivity than that.

My fear is that people will (and they definitely will) take her heartfelt sentiment and twist it into trend hopping/cultural appropriation, since Gaga herself is the one who linked it to TM. Please don't insult my intelligence. You have no idea of my background or IQ, you're just personally offended that I called out a truth that we have to face. The point I was trying to make with this thread is that as fans, we should defend her sincerity and not let anyone who tries to hate against this song (or Gaga in general) get away with it for the wrong reasons. I've seen it happen countless times. I'm not even white myself, I'm just tired of people who are so caught up in their social justice soapboxing that they don't appreciate solidarity when they see it. Of course not all black people are this way, that's not at all what I was saying. I've discussed these issues countless times and I am pretty intelligent on the matter, I don't appreciate you implying that I don't know what I'm talking about. My overall message was that we all need to come together and appreciate that Gaga referenced TM, and remind those trying to drag her down that she's coming from a place of honesty and love. She's not just jumping on a bandwagon, that is my worry.

This is not  me "social justice soapboxing". This is me being a black person reading in an OP generalizing black people. In this comment alone you said "people". That's what you should have said instead of what you said in the OP and your point would of came off a lot more clearer and less derogatory.  That's what I'm trying to say. Actually this quote should have been you OP minus some stuff.

Well, forgive my semantics. I wasn't trying to be offensive in any way. It's just an ugly trend I notice. If you really want to pick apart what I said, I never said "all black people/all people who follow the BLM movement". You cannot deny that you've noticed it. People taking a positive message and spinning it to be "You're trying to speak for us".  I specifically mentioned black people because 9 out of 10 times on the internet, it is black people who are offended by the support being offered by non-black people. I'm not just making this up to prove a point, I see it constantly. All I'm saying is that she doesn't deserve that kind of hate, because she's coming from an honest place with this song, and in general, all the work she does for equality.

This song is terrible. Probably one of her worst ever. Not because of the inspiration or meaning -- it's just a shitty, boring song.

It will get backlash from both sides. It will trigger those that don't think Trayvon was an angel (alt-righters). And it will also piss off some BLM / social activists.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. My whole life I've been liberal progressive, and I've seen a nasty toxic trend grow from this side, that likes to attack anyone that isn't politically suited enough for the situation. And that's a shame (in this context it's that Gaga is a white person commenting on something emotional for black Americans).

But as an artist, you have to believe in what you want to say. You have to have the conviction to express what you feel. And you can't let people silence you. Especially when it's people that are on your side (especially when it's your side).

The song in no way tells anyone how to feel. It's a raw/honest emotional response to a tragedy. People are fine to be critical of it, it's not immune from criticism just because the subject matter. But anyone saying the song is offensive or trying to tell people how to feel are IMO wrong. And I especially think it's wrong to suggest she has no right to make it.

But there it goes again you take what you see and conjure up pseudo facts
