Nicole 1,809
I'm really pleased with how she discussed Angel Down and the BLM Movement, most importantly her acknowledging her limitations in speaking on such issues because she's not African American herself so cannot talk about the experience first hand. Overall, a really fantastic interview, probably one of my favourites from this era so far.

I hope and pray to god she truly just meant that she is more organic in her way of making music/putting on shows (at least now) whereas M is more theatrical rehearsed show type. And thats fine and ok. BUT if she dared to insinuate that M doesnt write her own music or play Instruments? That's pure delusion and lies which everyone knows. M is far superior writer #fact and damn sure write's her own music. And play quitar and some piano. It pathetic if she really meant that and utterly disrespectfull for actual legend and a megastar with a huge career. I truly truly hope its The former what she ment... I was thinking about this when I was listening, and honestly, I really think it boils down to the fact that she's over the comparisons, i.e., she's saying "look, these are the things I do, these are the things that make me who I am." I don't think she was necessarily insinuating that Madonna can't/hasn't done those things (though she definitely should have made that more clear). But it definitely came off as shade. Mostly because she followed it up saying Madge was more "rehearsed," read: not a true musician. I honestly think Zane's connection with Madonna could have been a really good one that fits into the narrative of women who've dealt with being put on an isolating pedestal by their fathers. But I also can't blame Gaga for being sensitive to an unfair comparison that's been the immediate go-to for naysayers publicly for the past 5+ years... In short, I'm not sure what to make of that moment. The interview knocked me off my tits otherwise though. Edit: that said, I also think Madonna has experienced enough unfair strife (like Gaga has) that a reaction to this would be unwarranted. Gaga made it clear enough that she has no ill will toward her, and a catty response would mean Madonna really isn't as centered and mature as she thinks she is. Jase 13,291
Possibly one of my favorite all-time Gaga interviews. Zane treats her with so much respect and it felt like I was watching/listening in on two good friends just kicking back and having a real, honest conversation. Battle 4 Ur Life 6,704
I just watched the whole thing. I am honestly so glad she made this album. not only cause it's really autobiographical and therapeutical but also because it's a f* great album. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
Muscletank 410
Very shady and defensive regarding the Madonna comparisons. You could even see it in her face. The way she described Madonna as a "nice lady" made her sound like she was getting her pension lol. Surely working with blood diamonds she would KNOW Madonna plays guitar amongst others and is being nominated for songwriter hall of fame this year. I get that she's sick of the Madonna comparison, but not sure this response helped her much tbh.

Guest
The Madonna part was actually my favorite part. The look on her face when Zane brought up Madonna looked like he struck her last nerve with the comparisons. She shut it down. She's confident and unafraid. She's in a good place. This was a great interview.
Monster Voices 1,024
Gaga will be singing till she's 90?! I wasn't planning on living to 82 Now I can imagine myself singing my dentures out on her granny gigs Forever and Always!

Social change can only happen when the more privileged members of society really put themselves on the front lines. White silence is violence.
