Born This Way was too "preachy", so she made a straight up party album. ARTPOP was too "generic and shallow", so she went and made a serious, mature album. Now people think it's inauthentic because it's not what she's known for. I love all her albums, but she needs some cohesiveness between records. Joanne may very well be a starry jewel among her other albums, unlike those other albums. I would be surprised by the music as I always am, but would in no way be surprised if the next album is sort of dark pop or something.
