New York Times 'Joanne' Review

It's really frustrating as a fan that I can't find reviews actually getting in depth about the songs or album as a whole.

Like even if they have less favorable opinions, it's still interesting to get their PERSPECTIVE on the music, but they are just leaving that chunk of the reviewing process out of their writing.

I'm not asking you to give it a 100 but can you at least explain what you HEARD to make it a 40? Or did you just see a twitter feud you didn't like?

I remember people trying with an unnecessary low review for the game Uncharted 4 earlier this year but i don't remember if anything changed.

It didn't, same happened with Forza Horizon 3 recently, and pretty much every form of entertainment.

It's unnecessary, reviewers won't change their score just because people complain. It's against their credibility.

I mean.I believe that Joanne deserves 70+ but how do you know that they only give her those reviews because it's Gaga. Maybe they just don't like the album

Then why are they talking about her feud with Chainsmokers? :oprah: Why don't they just review the music?

Guys, if you can, spread this letter (crediting GagaLoo92 ofc) as much as you can, including sending it to NYTimes. This review is truly outrageous in that it DOES NOT DISCUSS THE ACTUAL ALBUM. We need as much as attention as possible to fix this. It's unjust.

Spread it all you want! It is completely unjust and we deserve an answer for this abhorrent review.

@Gagaloo92 You are iconic

The only thing I want is for this man to answer for his bias and incompetence at reviewing music!

We should all write emails tbh.

The more they receive the more they'll need to review the situation. Especially because email addresses don't signify whether one is a Gaga fan or not.

If a few of us claim to be long time readers who are reconsidering our brand loyalty then they'll definitely listen the **** up

He kinda did but he's bringing the "sounds like x artist" lazy complaint.

he did, but vaguely! he even mentioned art pop being a flop, when that album sold more then he will make in a life time as a journalist.... I just hate it when big platforms give these little closed minded people a voice. in which in all honesty, some people shouldn't even be given that much power! it makes me sick....

I already have done so! And I actually am a long-time reader of NYT so I'm not even making it up when i say I am. You can read my email to them on page 11 of this thread ;)

You guys are a god damn mess, emailing people when you don't get a review that suits your liking. This isn't a hit piece, it's a fair critic of her art - and a huge part of her art is how she presents herself to the world. She isn't just a song writer, she is a performance artist who has made her personality and personal presentation a center piece to her art.

The music on this album is fantastic, I adore it, but I think they hit the nail on the head with this line; “Joanne,” serves as an over correction to the garish eccentricity of “ARTPOP."

I agree, it's very unprofessional, it reads like something you'd find in a gossip blog.

Sadly there's nothing we can do, he won't ruin his "credibility", because fans complain.

The reality is that this album won't be a critical or commercial success.

This is the path Gaga walks now - the one you were all clamoring for because it's "authentic" and "personal."

That being said, do I agree that Gaga should call up The Chainsmokers? Hell no. :smh:

Seems like my biggest fear is true :((

that Joanne is full of loners, independant songs that just happen to be on an extreme non-concept...

Naw. He did a straight up hatchet job by giving her a 40% and then wandered through the desert to find a logical reason to rate it that low and miserably failed to back up his point. Honestly the words he wrote aren't that bad... It's more so that they're an opinion piece on her for 80% of the article. It doesn't even give his opinion von each track.
