Why Joanne is Gaga's best album: Refinement

I know opinion threads can become a little bit overbearing at times like this, but hear me out.

When listening to Joanne, I asked myself what exactly do I like so much about this album and why do I think it's her best yet? It was only when I really thought about the similarities and differences that I realised it can be summarised in one word; refinement.

re·fine·ment
noun
the process of removing impurities or unwanted elements from a substance.

There's no denying, all of these tracks sound very Gaga whilst also not at all. The lyrics go a little further, they're more specific than usual but the subjects are the same. The hooks are there but they're baked into the songs, you barely notice them and used sparingly to stop too much repetition. The instrumentals are so clear, there's no extra noise. It's like Gaga has learnt how she works and has learnt how to edit. Songs are no longer carrying extra fat, they're just what packs a punch and that's it, these songs are lean, mean, power machines.

Now, I am no way sh*tting on Gaga's previous work because so much of it is fantastic but it's like she's identified exactly what she's done right in the past and used that to create something bigger than before.

Feel free to disagree with me, I'm only really bouncing ideas around in my head and it's late... after listening to this album for nine hours straight you start thinking about it quite a lot :chica:

You guys broke Haroon's mouse :cryga: Sista is tired of closing y'all threads and clean mess after you.

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

I agree, Joanne it's her most polished, professional sounding album. The instrumentals are perfectly mixed with her voice in almost all of the songs (**** off, Perfect illusion :) ), everything is well balanced, and the lyrics are mature and relatable. It's a very simple sounding album, but it never sounds "basic". It's like one of those people that look very normal and average in plain sight but they impress the hell out of you once you spend time with them.

It's incredible. This album is going to get a lot of praise for that.

I agree. She also isn't afraid to get a little experimental/uncommercial/unconventional like at the end of Angel Down. And I love that all the expression and emotion in her voice wasn't filtered out. The vocals sound like live performances.
