I was previously banned prior to Perfect Illusion's release, so forgive me if this has already been discussed. Anyway, listening to the song more analytically, I've come to speculate that the Perfect Illusion she's referring to is her relationship with us, the fans. Throughout the song Gaga repeated references of a relationship founded on dis-eluded principals. She's TRYING to impress them, and she feels the pressure to be commercially omniscient is leading her to madness. "pressures taking its toll" "But I feel you watching" "Your caught up in the show, but at least now I know". Could we be that relationship that drove her to question her desire to make music? I mean look at the facts. We didn't support her last album, ARTPOP, nor its singles, and failed to come and see her on tour. When the world branded her a flop we kind of hung our heads low and excepted it. Her fans are so caught up in the show, the illusion of being "Gay Pop Eccentric Icon Lady Gaga" that she eventually felt she wasn't even a human being. (Now this is not to say all of her fans did this as most of the fans here stuck around...kinda.) But the one group of people who were supposed to love her the most, stand by her thick and thin...abandoned her when she didn't go #1. And now, the performance of Perfect Illusion has really only affirmed her suspicions. It wasn't love, it was a perfect illusion. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
