Because I wanted the album to be a surprise and for example the ARTPOP itunes festival kind of ruined my first listening experience so I decided that I wouldn't make the same mistake again and listen to live versions of the songs before they get released.

I know what you mean. Sexxx Dreams and ARTPOP were butchered on the album version.

Haven't listened and don't intend to! I've already pre-ordered the digital and hard copy of the album, and I want to be completely surprised on the 21st. After waiting for three years, I can hold out for one more week, haha.

I don't judge anyone for listening to the snippets, (it's not a full leak and I doubt it will compromise sales because it's likely all stans who will buy the album regardless), but I think particularly with Gaga's music, a 30 second clip is likely to give a very wrong impression of the song itself.

Namely, because the structure of her verses are often so vastly discrepant from the choruses...like, imagine hearing only the first verse of "Judas"; you'd have a completely different view of what the song actually sounds like. Not even to mention her bridges generally feature her speaking rather than singing, with a substantial departure from the general melody/key. For example, if I just heard the bridge of "Dance in the Dark," I would not be terribly impressed; however, the song as a whole is a masterpiece.

Personally, I just think a Gaga song needs to be listened to in its entirety to accurately judge it.

I haven't listened to any besides a tiny bit of the bridge of John Wayne bc it started autoplaying when someone posted it on twitter, and that sounded amazing from the 3 seconds I heard, but I intend to wait

I did stay away from the snippets, except those of Sinner's Prayer and A-Yo because we had already heard the songs live. I'm usually the sort of person who would just listen to any possible leak, but... 30 s of every song? Really? I mean, it's not just a little peak, it's like... a huge deal. Definitely not the way I'd want to discover this album in particular.

I remember something similar had happened to a record I had been highly anticipating a couple of years ago - I had listened to the snippets back then, and regretted it once the album finally came out. Like, it totally killed the first listening experience and the discovery of the thing.

I'm impatient, but I just didn't wait 3 years just to spoil everything less than a month before getting the real deal.
