However, he looks nowhere near masculine. He could be mistaken for a girl. Not saying this is a bad thing, but, can we applaud men who use make-up too accentuate masculine features? To look like a dude? I mean, I love this, but, like... All these dudes who put make-up on themselves... they look like chicks. That's their prerogative, but... still... It can be offputting. Taking the ridiculous statement that ALL MEN WHO WEAR MAKEUP LOOK LIKE CHICKS out of this equation, I agree with everything you said. Ever since Brendin Jordan or whatever her name is, I've felt like gay BOYS who wear makeup and do "girl things" are being given the gay spotlight while masculine gay men are considered "not gay enough" for fame. I think he looks great and I'm happy that there is finally male representation in the make up/cosmetic industry but at the same time, it just feels so boring... they are basically perpetuating the stereotype that the only type of guy who wears make up is the more "feminine" type of guy and there's nothing wrong with that but I feel like it would've been more interesting if they went with a more masculine approach. Spoiler I'm probably being too critical I also hate using the words masculine and feminine to describe stuff but I felt like I had to in order to explain my example. His eyebrows are big yes but they look good and are painted well. This is an awesome step forward for our culture. Not a one of them looks like a dude in the face, and the coverboy don't look like a dude much of anywhere else honestly. Though when you go full feminine somewhere, all androgyny kind of flies out the window because one part of you looks like a chick, so now all of you looks like a chick. While I ride between fem and masc, I do feel like masc gays are there for eye candy, and not much else. the androgynous aren't focused on much either. While some may consider the androgynous in the fem classification, I kind of disagree. I don't know really. I just feel like gay pride is built upon the stereotypes of those in their youth, who explore the grungy entrance level of gay culture to identify themselves. I kind of don't think it's a boy vs man than, since that is age... I think it's once again twink/femboys vs masculine. James is the talk of the town, because of his yearbook photos. He's 17, he will be in all the teen magazines etc. I really don't see the big deal at least from the outside because I've seen tons of guys apply a wicked highlight in my day but I can see the backlash.
