Christians are the people who believe in Jesus Christ

However, there are two types of them - Orthodox and Catholic.

It's not unheard of for Catholics to refer to themselves as Christian when speaking generally, particularly when using the word "Christian" to speak in general terms about relating their appreciation for values or morals -- and it makes sense in the context of her tweet.

Time to leave the cave. I cannot understand how one might not know that catholicism is a denomination of christianity, not a religion.

Why do so many people on this site think that Catholics are something special, religion on it's own? It's denomination of Christianity. :nails:

Yeah and denominations have different beliefs/rules and sacraments. same with all religions. There are many denominations because they hold beliefs that don't mesh with each other but they hold a central belief in common. Likewise Shia and Sunni and Ahmedi Muslims are all followers of Islam but they aren't identical. I don't get why this is so hard to grasp for some people...

"Unlike Christians" ? You are a christian ! And christian denominations are not Catholic & the Others.
Indeed, the most authentic denomination is orthodox christianity, if you are going to take one as reference point. While catholicism is a very politicized version of orthodox christianity by bishop of rome who started to call himself pope to rise above bishops of other episcopal sees in the midst of lack of central political power after Roman Empire lost the city of rome. Other episcopal sees were Constantinople(Istanbul) , Antioch(Antakya), Alexandria, Jerusalem.

Also Catholicism, by far, is the most vile religious movement that happened in history. Catholics massacred people of all other religions in mass for centuries in Europe. Massacring all civilian muslims in Iberia during reconquista, burning jews to death claiming blood libel. All very catholic.
"we don't ever use it to quote homophobia and other stupid things" Thanks to atheists and other non-believers who started movements to stop the obscurantist oppression of the pope. Whole concept of renaissance and enlightenment is based on diminishing powers of the pope thanks to people who were brave and clever enough to reject religions based on social or scientific views.
I felt the need of saying those because you used secularism's and modern world's not allowing Catholicism to be its authentic version as a notion of Catholicism.
