Dangerous tour was a mix of both live and lipsynched (for dance routines,etc) and during his last tour (HIStory tour) he had to lipsync because he had laryngitis (an disease on the vocal chords that force the singer not to strain them too much) the last time he really performed all songs live was on the 30th aniversary concert by MJ. During the HIStory tour in 96-97 he had laryngitis which forced him to lipsync. Laryngitis is a disease where the vocal chords are an inflamated, this forces the singer to limited the use of his/her vocal chords, otherwise the singer can damage and even lose his/her voice.
