And we thought...

... ARTPOP was polarizing.

We complained about ARTPOP's failed plans, including the app and music videos. There was a hiatus in the middle of the era and the comeback with G.U.Y. was pretty lukewarm.

Gaga started contradicting herself multiple times.

The music itself divided fans and got mixed reviews from critics. Success-wise, it was subpar to what everyone was expecting from her (in my opinion, Applause had an amazing run, but nevertheless ARTPOP's commercial performance didn't satisfy anyone). We started finding excuses for everything she did and didn't.

But right now, we're one month into the new era and I don't think I ever expected this :emma: if ARTPOP divided fans, Joanne is shaking every foundation possible. Everyone's attitude is so much different... And after listening to the Dive Bar performance and opinions around here, I don't think the full release of Joanne will be any better.

Giving her own fans' reviews, I believe we will get mixed reviews from critics as well.

Perfect Illusion... It flopped, it got mixed reviews, once again lots of mixed feelings among her own fans... Can't say anything good about it. Even the video was mixed-received.

Live performances, promo plans, have been so distant I'm starting to think lots of fans don't feel as excited as they would for her SB performance as they would feel if it was announced three years ago. Gaga is simply not delivering. Not delivering what Gagadaily wants, what the world wants from Gaga. Or is she really not delivering what she should? Seriously, it's been a month and it's scary already how alienating everything about Gaga has been around here.

Will this get any better? Will Joanne bring us together again? Will the long-awaited comeback be remembered as a time you would rather forget? Will we, and the world, be able to accept Gaga as she is trying to become apparently?

I like to see Joanne as Gaga's Bedtime Stories era. A stripped down era to gain back an audience. Let's hope she'll follow this path and release her Ray Of Light next

If debuting and peaking at number 15 is a flop with zero to no promotion, then I'd hate to see what it would have gotten to if it was promoted.

To me it all just feels inauthentic. Despite everything she has said about a return to roots and being her father's daughter etc, it feels like a ploy to win a new demographic and just way too on the nose. Let's go for straights, so, football, dive bars, and bud light.

Gaga gave the world/ her fans what they wanted in ARTPOP. Did it work though? There is no way she is able to please anyone and I'm glad she's completely just doing it her way for Joanne this time.

Same. I'm not really LIVING for the music. She waited too long to release a so far underwhelming record.

But many critics have said that she precisely did not give fans what they want during the ARTPOP era by just shoving all that artsy bullcrap down our throats though...

If Gaga had begun as a country artist and suddenly released an electro-pop album like ARTPOP or The Fame it would completely destroy the fanbase. I think we've managed to keep it together pretty well considering the current situation. :awkney:

You cant say perfect illusion flopped. It may still be in the charts in December who knows it wont be a flop then. Calling something a flop after a couple of weeks is insane. Gaga singles always grow

Im kind of sad i dont know... i like the songs especially million reasons and sinners prayer but im listening to bad romance alejandro and all these bops

And Im like thinking shes not giving us any bops this time... idk its just not what i need from gaga... i still love her and just preordered the album but idk... i need pop in my life... for country music there are other stars!!

she should have come back with a massive pop single and still gone with her orginal unique uncontrolled vision and not compromising her true self...

also she needs a hit... and its doesnt look like we are getting one from this album...

Joanne is gonna be beautiful music but it's just so far from what I was expecting and so no what I need from Gaga. It's OK to change and move on but the 'gaga' factor is gone... idk maybe it was all a perfect illusion...
